DISCUSSION-The Caribbean island Haiti, has faced a number of

18 earthquakes between the years of 1562 to 2022. This is because
Haiti falls under the intersection of two massive plate boundaries, The
North American Plate and The Caribbean Plate. At 4.53 p.m. on 12
January 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti. Its epicenter
was 25 kilometres west of the capital, Port-au-Prince.These are some
estimates of the damage:220,000 people were killed, out of three
million living in or close to the capital. Another 300,000 were
seriously injured.105,000 houses collapsed.Perhaps 1.8 million were
left homeless. However, nobody will ever know the exact
numbers.Among the buildings destroyed were:the Presidential palace
1,300 schools and 50 health clinics must ministries, schools, and
hospitals.
