Scenario and the Task

When information systems use to take critical decisions and asks employees to use information
system.

You are supposed to select and analyze a medium size service sector business that is already using
information systems to handle its business processes. These information systems may be manual
or partially computerized systems. Gather information using requirement-gathering techniques
such as interviews, observations, questionnaires, document reviews, website reviews, and
sampling. You are asked to make an analysis of the current information systems and evaluate the
system’s capabilities in line with the corporate goal of the company. You need to produce a report
based on the findings and propose an enhanced information system/s for the company.

Students can add any functionality which will enhance the system and make the proposed
solution more comprehensive.

Tasks:

1. Organizations have different functional areas. Explain the functions of different functional
areas of the selected business organization. Identify and evaluate the information needs of

3. Analyze different information systems available to solve the business problems in the other

4. Evaluate the suitability of different information systems for different functional areas of the

5. Select an information system from the selected business organization and critically analyze
how it will be helpful to produce valid, accurate and useful information for the management
decision making process. Justify your finding by providing valid evidences such as managerial

6. There are many alternative solutions with pros and cons which can be used to solve business
problems. Identify business problems from your organization and propose alternative solutions
