for a living and continue to do the work I am doing now.
The lifestyle this job would create would be a happy one but not one where
you didn’t have to budget your money well. For example, the average salary
untaxed for this job is $55,00, which means you have to really budget things
because you don’t have the option too otherwise. I know this lifestyle
would be good for me because I am a very organized person already in my
day-to-day life. It would also work well because of how happy doing this
type of work makes me feel which I believe is very important to have in a
job. Overall, I know for me this lifestyle would be easy to manage and not
too much stress in my life.
This is the best choice for me because of how loved and supported I feel
doing this type of work. For example, I know in this job I would be working
with a group of like-minded people which would make me happy to come
into work every morning. I know that when my work environment is a
positive place to be I tend to have more of a positive mindset in my life. I
value this because I would rather work a job I love and not get payed as
much then a job I hate getting payed a lot. I know for me and my life
working this job would make me feel happiest and most fulfilled which is
something I always look for in my work. Overall, this job would help me in
my life because every day I know I would be waking up with a purpose for
my life which would be helping others.
Career Info that I have discovered…
Consider:
❏ Upsides/downsides of this From my research I have found there to be lots of upsides to this job. For
employment choice example, you only have to work during the school year and can have 3
❏ Job duties/ responsibilities months off in the summer or work summer school if you need the income.
❏ Salary range Another positive for this job is the hours never change from 9-3 which
❏ Future outlook means you don’t have to worry about night shifts or shift assignment
❏ Lifestyle factors changing. With every job there are downsides. For example, when you are
❏ Advancement opportunities an ea you are expected to do a lot of prep outside of work hours which tends
to go unpaid. Another downside could be the salary for this job. For
instance, the average salary untaxed is $55,00 which tends to not go very far
now a days. If you budget your life well this salary should be enough to live
on but for the type of work eas do it’s not enough of a motivator for some.
In this type of job, they are always looking for people so once you graduate
from post-secondary you will have no issue looking for work because of
how much of a need there is. This makes paying for post-secondary school
easier because the government really wants more people in these jobs so
there are lots of scholarships available and programs for shorty amounts of
time to make it more appealing to people looking at jobs. Overall, this is a
pretty secure job to have with the amount of growth it is predicted to have
and is one I would be interested in pursuing for sure.
Three employability skills I possess 1. Empathic: This personality trait will help with this job because this type
that will support my plan: of job requires you to be able to put yourself in someone else shoes. For
Consider: example, in this job you will be working with a lot of kids with different
❏ Skills required for position. abilities and if you can’t imagine what that would be like for each one while
❏ Personal attributes still respecting them as a person this job would not work for you. In this job
having a lot of empathy can help you with advocating for these kids because
if you can understand what it is like to have no one listen to you you will
want to fight for that for them. Overall, without this personality trait I could
not do my job as well as I do which makes me value It so much more.
2. Always on time: Having this skill is a must for this job because of the
amount of people who rely on you to be there and on time. For example, if
you don’t show up there’s a kid who now doesn’t have any support so
he/she can’t participate in class. When this happens instead of just letting
yourself down you let a whole team of people down and if it becomes a
pattern, you could ruin your relationship with student. When this happens
the student, you are supporting can start to feel like you don’t appreciate
them when you are not on time which really starts to affect the trust the
student has for you. Overall being on time is one of the most important
aspects of this job.
3. flexible: For this job it is every important to be flexible because of how
often things change on the fly. For example,
How the school day goes is based on what students show up or what
students need the most help that day. In my experience no schedule for the
day stays the same as when you read it at the start of the week because you
can’t predict human behavior accurately most of the time. It is also
important you are flexible because if someone calls in sick you may you to
take on more of a workload then you would have wanted. Overall, this is an
important skill to have for this job and personally I could not work it well
myself if I didn’t have this trait.
Education needed to pursue my Having a college degree is required as well as on job training
plan: because each school/learning environment is different. In my
Consider: experience most of your training will be on the job because

each students needs and supports are different. For this job you
needed.
❏ Post-secondary requirements will also need first aid and cpr training as well as being certified
in non-violent crises intervention. The last thing they will
consider is your experience level. For example, do you have any
volunteer or work experience in this flied or did you get most of
your experience from schooling. Overall If you do the schooling
and a bit of volunteering you will have no issue getting this
type of job.

for me to work as it is something I already have such a strong passion for
already which in my life is the most important thing for me in a job.
The sort of lifestyle this job would create would be a stable one but not one
where you could live without a budget. For instance, the average salary
untaxed ranges from $38,168 - $64,480 . this is more than enough
money with a budget to live your life stably, but it does not allow you
to not have a plan for your spending. I know my lifestyle would be a
happy one if I worked this job because it is something I am already
very passionate about so not making as much money will not bother
me as much. Overall, I know this lifestyle would be a heathy one for
me and one I could manage well if I stick to a good budget.
This is another good option for me because it is a job I would want to put
the time and effort in for. For example, any extra work I would have to do
outside of work hours would not be a big deal to me because I would feel
motived to get it done. Another reason this job would be a great choice for
me is the fact I would get to help people who also struggle with mental
health for a living. This would be amazing to me because I struggle a lot
with my mental health and knowing I would get to help people through
there struggles would be very filling. Overall, I would be very happy in my
everyday life if I got to call this job my career.
Three employability skills I possess 1. Ability to stay on task: This skill is a must for this job because if you are
that will support my plan: unable to stay on task the person you are helping won’t be able to either.
Consider: For example, if you can’t stay on task in a session, it will come off as

❏ Personal attributes relationship with them. The ability to stay on task in this job shows each
person who you are helping that you really care about them and their goals.
Overall if I didn’t have this skill, I believe it would be very hard for me to
do this job well which would not only affect me but everyone I was helping.
3. On time: This is an important skill to have for this job because if you are
not on time, you are not only letting yourself down but a group of people.
For example, if you show up late to your session with the person you are
helping that day it comes off as you not caring. This in the long term could
negative affect the relationship with the person you are helping as it shows
them you don’t think their worth the time and effort to be on time. In order
for you to do this job well you need to be consisted of because when all the
other things in the persons life you are helping isn’t you need to be. Overall,
I am grateful to have this skill because it means I will keep being able to
show up for people when they need it most.
Education needed to pursue my plan: Post-secondary is required. For example, A bachelor's degree in social

Write a one page reflection on whether your job will support your lifestyle.
Overall, from my budget I have found that the job that I have chosen will fit my lifestyle well. For example, I found
from my calculations that I will have no problem sticking to my monthly budget and I will have extra money left
over for the unexpected things I can’t budget for. One of my goals for my budget would be to eventually save up
for a car. To do this, I would need to save at least $1000 dollars a month which will not be a problem with the
budget I have layed out as I will still have $957.33 left over. In some ways with this budget my priorities have
changed. For instance, I really had to look at my spending to see what I actually could afford in the long run. This
was a challenge for me because I now in my life really enjoy going out and buying lots of clothes but with this
budget it is just not something I can do anymore to the extremes I am now. In a few years with this budget, I
would like to save up for a trip to Disneyland. To do this I would need to try to save 5,000 dollars a year which I
know I could do successfully with the budget I have now. This is something I would really like to save for because it
is always somewhere that I have really wanted to go but never had the money to before. I know I could make this
happen in 5 years with the way I am plaining on saving and how my budget is layed out. In order to stick to my
budget, I will not be able to go out for food as much as I am now which means I will have to limit it to about once a
month. This will be a sacrifice for me because I really enjoy going out for food, but I know realistically won’t be
able to spend money on it like I do now. Overall, I know if I stick to this budget, I will be able to support a heathy
lifestyle for myself as well as successfully save for the things I want in the future.
