I have developed a personalized study plan with a timeline for preparing for my
upcoming NCLEX exam. My plan involves purchasing an NCLEX test prep such as UWorld. I
can also supplement that studying with the EAQ questions we are using within the Praxis course.
In the past I have found using the online tool Quizlet has helped me with studying for exams
during last semester’s Praxis course as well as the med/surg course during the second year. These
are all multiple choice or select all that apply questions that offer rationales. I think that the most
effective way for me to study is to begin doing a set amount of practice questions each week and
My potential date for my NCLEX exam is June 7th in Sudbury at the Fairfield Inn and
Suites. I chose this date because it gives me some time to study after completing my final
semester of nursing education. I also don’t want to wait too long after my nursing education to
write my exam because I want the information to still be fresh. Sudbury is also a good location
for me to write my exam because it isn’t too far away from Sault Ste. Marie and I can drive there
The strengths in my learning are I have an okay understanding of mental health and
infection control. I think that I can self-motivate myself to answer a set number of multiple-
choice questions a day. I have previously studied for exams within the program by completing
large amounts of multiple-choice questions and that seems to work well for me as a study
method. The weaknesses in my learning are unfortunately quite numerous and include pediatrics,
maternity, and the cardiac system. Pharmacology questions can also cause me difficulty.

I have developed a study plan to meet my needs that includes strategies and a timeline up
to the exam write date. I think that a three-month study plan makes the most sense for me. This
will give me plenty of time to slowly gain confidence in preparation for my exam. I will still be
in consolidation during most of my planned study time, so that could create some challenges
with finding time to study. I will have to really make sure I am setting aside time for studying on
my days off since I will be too tired to do practice questions on the days where I am at the
hospital.
February: Use the EAQ adaptive quizzing questions to help practice as well as Quizlet. This will
just be a mild review of areas I had studied for last year’s Praxis review course in order to help
me remember most of what I learned last semester. I will review a few areas each week such as
cardiovascular, renal, and integumentary. These reviews will probably only take about a few
hours each week. This month is more to get myself back in the headspace of answering NCLEX
style questions.
March: Purchase the UWorld prep for NCLEX and begin using it once a week as a helpful tool to
prepare myself for the exam. I will start devoting about five hours every week to using the
UWorld practice questions. I will also take a NCLEX practice assessment in order to see where
my strengths and weaknesses are and where I will need to start focusing my studying. I will
probably only use UWorld as my sole study resource during this month. I will review the body
systems, and the more basic nursing concepts like assessment and evaluation.
April: Continue using UWorld every week but start to increase the amount of hours spend on it,
maybe even aiming for as high as 50 practice questions a day, on days that I am not at
consolidation. I will go through the questions by area, studying a different health system each
day. I need to make sure that I am reading over the rationales for each correct answer. I think that

this would really help me and sometimes, I’m too impatient to bother reading the rationales. I
can take a second NCLEX adaptive practice test in order to determine if my areas of strengths
and weaknesses are staying the same or if they changed. I can also supplement my UWorld
questions with EAQ and Quizlet questions, just to try and give myself a wider variety of
questions. I will start to focus more on pharmacology this month since this is an area where I am
generally weaker.
May: I should be completely done with my consolidation hours by this month, and I will be able
to focus most of my time on studying to complete the NCLEX exam. I will really take this time
to focus on areas in which I am weakest. I can increase my studying to 100 questions a day. I will
June: I will have one week left to study in the month of June before I write my NCLEX. I will
devote this time to doing a comprehensive review while trying to take time to relax and exercise
in order to feel healthy and mentally prepared for the exam. I think that getting a full eight hours
of rest every night is important for me and will help me to learn the material better. I might drive
to Sudbury two days early so that I have a full day at the hotel to study before the morning of the
exam.
