Emma (00:00):

Do you consider yourself to be an adventurous person?

Anna (00:05):

Yeah, I think I am. Just because I've traveled the most of anyone
in my _________ _________. Mostly in Europe. Yeah. So, and I
have plans to go other places too, as soon as I can. I think my
next big _________ trip I'd like to take is to go somewhere in
East Asia. And I was thinking South Korea or Japan, or maybe
both.

Emma (00:28):

ANNA
Yeah.

Anna (00:29):

And I do want to like explore the United States a little bit more
On Adventure because I mean, it's such a big country. There's -- I've been a lot

and he always took us on trips when we were kids.

Emma (00:42):

So you said you really like to travel then, so that definitely

makes you adventurous. Tell me about one of the most exciting
things that you've ever done, or maybe one of the most exciting
trips that you've ever taken.

Anna (00:58):

The most exciting trip. I don't know that this is the most
exciting, but it did feel like the most adventurous thing I'd ever
done. When I was in high school, my dad took my twin sister
and I to do a _________ _________ trip. It was a week-long
river rafting trip which started in Moab, Utah, and ended... I
don't remember exactly where we ended, but we got on the
Colorado river in Utah, and we went down it for a week. And
then they flew us back in one of those tiny little planes that are
terrifying to ride in, actually.

Emma (01:32):

So that's pretty cool though, that you went on a week-long

rafting trip. And what was the coolest thing about it in your
opinion?

9
Anna (01:42):

Okay. The absolute coolest thing about it was since we were in

the middle of nowhere and we were camping every night, you
could look up into the sky at night and see so many stars that
you cannot see when you are in a city. And I never realized how
many stars we cannot see because of _________ _________.

Emma (02:01):

Oh, wow. That sounds incredible. Wow. And so do you go

ANNA

direct way to phrase this question we weren't exactly camping, but you were right there in nature.
would be: Would you say you go I would get up early in the morning and go for a walk and I'd see
camping often? so many _________ . I loved that.

deer2 – Irregular plural noun – Emma (02:49):

Singular form: deer
Oh, wow. Yeah, that sounds cool. So do you ever miss camping?
Plural form: deer (no S at the end)
Anna (02:53):

I do. I think it's great. I mean, I prefer running water most of the
time, but

Emma (03:01):

Uh huh.

Anna (03:03):

I can tolerate like dealing with some of the _________ of

camping just because I think it's worth it.

Emma (03:10):

10
Yeah, cause you get to experience all the nature and, and like
being alone in the wild, it gives you time to think. I don't know.

Anna (03:19):

Yeah, absolutely. And it's just, I think it's very relaxing. They've
actually done studies where they had people walk through like
a forest or a nature-- a forest-like setting, maybe it wasn't an
actual forest-- and they found it really helped people, like it
lowered their stress. I think they measured _________

Emma (00:00):

How would you-- how would you define the word

adventure? Because I think everyone has a different
definition. So some people, when they think of adventure,
they think of _________. Some think of travel, discovery
trying new things. What is adventure for you?

Miguel (00:22):

I would say it's experience. So a new experience and having

fun.

Emma (00:30):

MIGUEL
Yeah. And just enjoying the moment, basically?

Miguel (00:33):

On Adventure Yes.

Emma (00:34):

Okay. Speaking of adrenaline, I think adrenaline can be a big

part of adventure. Do you think that adrenaline is addictive?

Miguel (00:49):

I think it can be, but it can also go away when you do

something too much. You no longer get that same adrenaline
the way you used to.

Emma (00:59):

Yeah, I agree. And so are you an _________ _________? Do

you like to do adventure sports or go to _________
_________ on the _________ _________ and things like that?

Miguel (01:13):

I do like adventure. I do like the adrenaline, but I wouldn't

say I'm an adrenaline junkie. It's like something I want to do,
but not a lot. I want to do it maybe two or three times a year.
Like roller coasters. I like roller coasters, but I can't do them a
lot. It has to be something that I do once or twice a year.

Emma (01:32):

19
Okay. So you like adrenaline, but just on rare occasions,
basically. What was that?

Miguel (01:42):

Yes.

Emma (01:42):

Okay. Another thing that people would say is adventurous is

maybe spending time and doing adventurous things in
nature, like for example, if you were given the opportunity to
climb Mount Everest, would you do it?

Miguel (01:59):

MIGUEL No.

Emma (02:00):
On Adventure Why not?

Miguel (02:03):

I just, I don't see... It's just something that doesn't really

_________ _________ _________ and it's not really
something that I would want to do.

Emma (02:12):

But why doesn't it catch your attention?

Miguel (02:15):

Cause it seems scary and like, I do _________, but more of

like walking _________ hikes.

Emma (02:25):

So it's just too intense of a hike, basically. You have to be an

experienced _________ to do something like that.

Miguel (02:31):

I would do something where I could just like walk one mile,

maybe two miles and then walk back home and _________
_________ _________ _________.

20
Emma (02:39):

Okay. So Mount Everest would be too intense.

Miguel (02:43):

Yes.

Emma (02:43):

Okay. What if someone offered you like a one-month trip, a

one month hike in the Amazon rainforest, would you do

MIGUEL
something like that?

Miguel (02:53):

On Adventure I would. I think that would be fun. It would be a cool

experience. And it's something that I would never forget.

Emma (03:00):

You'd have _________ in on your survival skills, I think for

that one.

Miguel (03:05):

Yes. Which would make it exciting. Like that, that _________

Okay. So the Mount Everest? No, but the Amazon, yes.

Miguel (03:16):

Yes.

Emma (03:17):

Okay. I have another adventurous scenario. If you had the

opportunity to go in a _________ to the moon for free, would
you take it?

Miguel (03:29):

I don't know, that one... I've thought about it and I can-- I

want to say that I would want to say yes, but it's so scary that

21
I don't think I would actually say yes. I think I would be too
scared.

Emma (03:43):

It's too risky.

Miguel (03:44):

Yeah. That seems like it would be an awesome experience,

but it's just too much time that you have to dedicate to, to

MIGUEL
Emma (04:01):

It's a risk, I think. And so would you consider yourself to be a
