Windows A User Friendly Operating System
It allows user to do
various operations on computer. When Computer is switched on, the very first screen that you see is
called DESKTOP. The desktop contains various pictorial symbols such as My Computer, Recycle Bin, these
symbols are called ICONS. The icons represent different program. The icons are used to open different
program, files & folders. We need to double click on icon to open particular program, file or folders. The
mouse plays important role while working in Window. Whatever you have on your computer is
accessible from icon called My Computer. In My Computer window, different icons can be seen. When
you double-click on any of these icons, it perfrom certain tasks4
WINDOW EXPLORER
It is program, which helps us in managing file & folders
TO OPEN WINDOW EXPLORER
Start-Program-Accessories-Window Explorer
ONCE EXPLORER WINDOW APPEARS, WE SEE THE FOLLOWING
1. Window Explorer screen is divided into 2 columns
2. Left column displays drives & folders
3. Right column displays files in current folders
4. '+' sign on level indicator signifies subfolders
5. Current folder is indicated by open folder icon
6. To open, you can click on any folder icon
CREATING FOLDER
1. On left column of Window Explorer, click folder in which new folder is to created
2. Click on file menu
3. Bring pointer to new option
4. Now, click on folder option
RENAMING FOLDER
1. To rename file & folder, click on file to be renamed
2. Now, click on file menu
3. Click Rename option
4. Type new name for file and file is renamed
MOVING FOLDER
1. Select file/folder to moved
2. Right click on file; shortcut menu appear
3. Click on Cut option
4. Now, go to location where you want to move file
5. Click right mouse button; shortcut menu appear
6. Click on Pasteb option
DELETING FOLDER
1. Right click on file deleted; shortcut menu appear
2. Click on Delete option
3. A message box will appear on screen
4. Click on "Yes" button to confirm
