Introduction to Electrical Circuits (COE 2101)

Summer 22-23 Semester

Problem 01: (30 + 10d + e) J energy is converted to heat when 62.4210+18 electrons
passing through a wire in60 ms. Determine the potential difference between the two points
of the wire.

Problem 02: In a period of 5 ms, 1.2 J energy were dissipated in a conductor where the
applied voltage betweenthe two points of the conductor is (20 + 5c + d) V. Determine the
current which is passing through the conductor.

Problem 03: The conductance of a 304.8 m long wire is (500 + 50b + c) S. If the
radius of the wire is 1.27 cm,determine the resistivity of the wire in cm.

Problem 04: Determine:

(i) the total cost of using the following electric load at 10 Tk. per kilo-watthour (kWh)
and (ii)the required total current when all the loads are in on condition if the supply
voltage is 110 V.
3000 W clothes dryer for 1h 15
min 1000 W steam iron for 2 h 45
min 900 W coffee maker for 40
min 200 W fan for 4.25 h

Problem 05: (i) The power consumed by a 5 k resistor is 450 mW. Calculate the
current through the resistor.
(ii) An electric motor used in an elevator system has an efficiency of 80%. If the
input current is 56.5 A,determine the supply voltage when the motor is delivering
15 hp
