Common Expressions
It is a scorcher today! It is very hot.
It´s raining cats and dogs! It´s raining a lot. It´s so sticky today. It´s very humid. It´s boiling outside. It´s very hot. It´s a gray day. There is very little sun. It is partly cloudy. There are some clouds. We are expecting some flurries. We are expecting a little snow. It´s going to be a hot one! Today will be very hot! The low today is 15 degrees C. The minimum today is 15 degrees C. The high today is 30 degrees C. The maximum today is 30 degrees C. Activities (3) Activity 1 - Go over the common weather forecast pictures. - In partners, create sentences for each image. - Share with the class. Activity 2 The Forecast Read the following example of a forecast:
And now, the weather report. Yesterday was a cloudy and
cold day, with a low of 3ºC. Today it is partly cloudy and cool, with a chance of showers this afternoon. The temperature now is 10ºC but it is expected to drop to around 5ºC by this evening. The forecast for tomorrow is sunny with a high of 17ºC. That’s it for today. See you again tomorrow!
In small groups, write an example of a forecast that you
would typically hear during this time of the year.
