MY REFLECTIONS

The right of indigenous peoples to equal and appropriate quality educational opportunities is protected by the UN
Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which in Article 14 states that “Indigenous peoples have the right to
establish and control their educational systems and institutions providing education in their own languages, in a
manner appropriate (Adopted by the UN General Assembly, A/61/L.67 and Add.1, 13 September 2007)
The Indigenous People's Education (IPEd) Program is DepEd's response to the right of Indigenous Peoples (IP) to basic education
that is responsive to their context, respects their identities, and promotes their indigenous knowledge, skills, and other aspects of
their cultural heritage.

Roles of the Mayor in providing equal and appropriate quality educational opportunities to IPs residing in Marikina is to ensure that
all policies pertaining to the educational welfare of the of IPs child / students are implemented and well taken care off. A consistent
implementation and close monitoring to ensure that program corruption is at its minimum. Openness to feedback and criticisms
must be welcome, to improve and mitigate implementation difficulties.

Role of Councilors, appropriate government policies to guide the proper implementation of the IPs education is a key factor. City
council must formulate and pass ordinances that supports the executive for the smooth implementation of the IPs education
programs.

A healthy body is a healthy mind. Education will only be effective when students are properly nourished. Having good health is
important Municipal Medical officers are task to take care of this of this matter. Closely monitoring the health of the IP child /
