Dear seniors,

The application process can be quite overwhelming and we want to make sure our students have a
detailed application checklist to go through. We also want to follow up with you about all the ways
Addictest can help you in your college application processes. Please read through this letter, and let
us know if you have any questions.

PART I- Choosing your Counselor

❏ I want Addictest as my counselor, what do I do?
❏ What is a Fee Waiver and how can Addictest approve my request?
❏ How does Addictest send my scores and write the counselor
recommendation letter?

PART II- Submitting your application:

❏ What documents do I need to translate?
❏ What do I need to complete in order to submit my application?

PART III- Sending your Financial Aid applications:

❏ What are Financial aid applications?
❏ How are financial aid forms and supporting financial documents sent?
I- Choosing your Counselor:

All high schoolers are required to have a counselor when sending their application (International
students included). You can either choose a counselor from your school or an agency like Addictest
specialized in college application. A counselor’s job is to:

- Send the school report (Transcripts + an Evaluation)

- Write a recommendation letter
- Send your scores by email to schools that don’t require official scores (Official scores have to
be sent from the test centers: Collegeboard.org or ets.org)
- Sign ED agreements.
- Sending recommendation letters offline if teachers can’t submit it through the common app.
- Give out fee waivers.
- Send your baccalaureate and second semester transcripts later on in May/June.
- Stay in contact with universities in case documents are missing, scores are not sent etc.

The deadline to submit all the above is 15 days after your deadline (Meaning, if your deadline is
January 1st, the deadline for recommenders -teachers and counselors- to submit documents
including the above is January 15th 2021.

1. Inviting your counselor

➢ Invite us as your counselor: First step is to log into your commonapp.org account, click on
colleges, select a university, then click on recommenders and FERPA:
➢ Once you do that, you need to put the following information:

Counselor name: [Insert the name of your counselor]

Email: [Insert the email of your counselor]
Title: University Guidance Counselor
2. What is a Fee Waiver and how can Addictest approve my request?
As you know, there are application fees to pay prior to submission. Luckily, Addictest can approve
your fee waiver request on your Common App if and only if paying application fees represents a
financial hardship for you. In order to get approved, you need to first choose us as your counselor
so we can have access to your application (Refer to all the above)

➢ First step is to log into your common app account, click on“Common App” at the top, then
“Profile” , then scroll down to “Common App fee waiver”. After that, you select “Yes” then “I
can provide a supporting statement from a school official, college access counselor...etc.”
finally, you enter your name and last name as the fee waiver signature and voila!

3. How does Addictest send my scores and write the counselor recommendation
letter?
➢ You need to fill out the Addictest counselor questionnaire if you haven’t already (It was
sent to you by email and you can find a copy at the reception) then send it to
[email protected] or hand it over to the reception. We use these questionnaires to
write unique and detailed recommendation letters for each one of our students, so make sure
you write as many details as possible.
➢ You need to send an email to [email protected] with your SAT, TOEFL/IELTS
scores attached as a PDF with your universities’ admissions@ emails. If universities reply to
us requesting official scores to be sent from test centers, we will notify you!
II- Submitting your application:

Once you have chosen your counselor, make sure you do the job on your part as an applicant:

1. What documents do I need to translate?

➢ Transcripts of 9th grade, 10th grade and 11th grade (All semesters or trimesters)
➢ High school teachers’ recommendation letters if not written in English.
➔ You can translate your documents using our translations services by emailing
[email protected] (Our translator charges 100dhs per page and 200dhs per
page for recommendation letters) you can use official translator of your choice.
Translating documents takes up to 7 days so please make sure you do so in advance.
➢ If you’re asking for financial aid, you need to translate financial supporting documents as well,
please refer to part III.

2. What do I need to complete in order to submit my application?

Make sure you’re organized: make an excel sheet with your college lists, the deadline, emails of
admissions for each school, the number of supplements you need to write etc.

➢ Complete your Common app profile, education, family, testing section until you see green
checks.
➢ Have your Common App essay ready. You can send your essay to be edited to
[email protected]
➢ Make sure you check the supplements for each school. Some schools have hidden
supplemental essays under the questions section!!
➢ Invite your teachers on the recommenders section of your Common app. If they can’t submit
your letter via Common App, you can send an email to [email protected] as
explained in Part I.
➢ Have the Activities section completed
➢ Review and submit!
III- Sending your Financial Aid applications:

1. What are Financial aid applications?

The Financial Aid Application is composed of two things: Financial aid forms and supporting
documents (Justificatifs).
Forms serve to declare your parent’s revenues, expenses, state how many brothers and sisters you
have etc. Supporting financial aid documents are used to strengthen and support your financial aid
request. Each university is different and prefers a certain form. For example Dickison college accepts
the ISFAA and NYU only accepts the CSS profile. Make sure you do your research on the school’s
website prior.

A. Financial aid forms:

1. International Student Financial Aid Application: This is a PDF document which you can find
online (make sure it’s the 2020-2021 ISFAA)
2. Certificate of Finance: This is a PDF document which you can find online (Google the 2020-2021
CF)
3. CSS Profile: This is an online application, which you have to fill out online through your College
Board Account, the same that you used to register for the SAT.
CSS opens on OCTOBER 1ST! Each School has their own policy for deadlines. Policy for
internationals varies from Americans.

https://profile.collegeboard.org/profile/ppi/participatingInstitutions.aspx
You need to pay CSS profile fees. Which is 25$ for the first school + 16$* Number of other
Schools you’re applying to.

B. Supporting documents:

1. Bank Statement of the past 3 months for both parents

2. Annual Salary Statements of both parents
3. Pension Statement ( if a parent is retired)
4. Fiche D’impôt/Tax Form (usually you will at least have the home tax)- Dar Dariba
5. Unemployment Certificate ( if one of the parents is not working)
6. Attestation sur le Revenu Global- Dar Dariba
7. Unemployment Certificate if one of the parents is not working
8. Medical certificate showing high financial burden (if such document exists)
2. How are financial aid forms and supporting financial documents sent?
Remember that YOU are the one to send your financial aid documents by emailing
them to the Financial Aid office or uploading them if there is a portal for Financial Aid. Some schools
have deadlines for financial aid applications, some don’t.

The ISFAA and Certificate of Finance, should also be emailed to the financial aid office of the
universities you are applying to! In the email you need to include your supporting financial aid docs in
TWO combined documents. All originals must be in one PDF, and all translations must be in another
PDF. If you are using Addictest to translate for you, we will send you these already ready. But if you
translated them outside of Addictest, make sure your translator adds an index at the beginning of the
document explaining what each document is.

Here is a sample email that you use:

Dear Financial Aid Office,

I trust this email finds you well. My name is XXXXX and I am an early applicant to the class of 2021. I am writing

2. International Student Financial Aid Application and Certificate of Finance.

I thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have
any questions.

Good luck!
