2 Research aims/purposes to identify and classify kind of person deixis in English


translation of Summarized Shahih Al-Bukhari Hadith,
especially in the book of As-Salat (the prayer) that translated
by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan.

3 Methodology; research The researcher adopted qualitative research design as the


design; and data source; method for this analysis. The data was the person deixis found
in the book of As-Salat of English translation of Summarized
Shahih Al-Bukhari Hadith, that translated by Dr. Muhammad
Muhsin Khan as the source of the data.
4 Major findings In the book of As-Salat (the prayer) there was found three
types of person deixis. Those are first person, second person
and third person deixis. In this research, it was found that
there were 209 first person deixis with percentage 25.39%. for
second person only found 59 person deixis with percentage
7.17% and third person h had been analyze 307 person deixis
with percentage 67.44%. the researcher found that the
dominant deixis used in Hadith was the third person singular
deixis especially the word “He” that dominantly refers to
“Prophet Muhammad SAW in which shows that Hadith is the
media to reveal the action, provisions, approvals and
utterances of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his companions.

Summary of the article The research conduct by Siska Pratiwi entitle Person Deixis in
(one paragraph) English Translation of Summarized Shahih Al-Bukhari Hadith
in the Book of As-Salat in 2018. This reseach aims to identify
and classify kind of person deixis in English translation of
Summarized Shahih Al-Bukhari Hadith, especially in the
book of As-Salat (the prayer) that translated by Dr.
Muhammad Muhsin Khan. In the book of As-Salat (the
prayer) there was found three types of person deixis. Those
are first person, second person and third person deixis. In this
research, it was found that there were 209 first person deixis
with percentage 25.39%. for second person only found 59
person deixis with percentage 7.17% and third person h had
been analyze 307 person deixis with percentage 67.44%. the
researcher found that the dominant deixis used in Hadith was
the third person singular deixis especially the word “He” that
dominantly refers to “Prophet Muhammad SAW in which
shows that Hadith is the media to reveal the action,
provisions, approvals and utterances of Prophet Muhammad
SAW and his companions.

and to explain the social stratification factors in each kind of
social deixis in The Madness of King George movie

3 Methodology; research The researcherss used a descriptive qualitative quantitative


design; and population; method. The research design in this study is descriptive
research. the researchers chooses the population and sample
from the movie dialogue, that is some dialogue or all dialogue
of the character in The Madness of King George movie.

4 Major findings the dominant types of social deixis used in this movie is
Relational Social Deixis with 965 times of deixis use. The
relational social deixis found “Papa/Pa/Father” refers to the
character in this movie who have the parent relationship with
the speaker. This social deixis used for 40 times (2.72%).
“Mama/Mother” also used by the children to call their mother.
In this case, the character of mother is Queen Charlotte. It
used only 4 times (0.27%) during this movie. For “The son”,
it used for 18 times (1.22%) to explain the addressee of this
utterances refers to the son of King George and Queen
Charlotte. Then, for pronoun refers to the first speaker (I, my,
myself, mine) with the frequency of use around 279 times
(18.99%). The pronoun of second speaker (You, your,
yourself, yours) with the frequency of use around 266 times
(18.10%). he pronouns of single third speaker are divided by
single male third speaker (He, his, himself, him) and single
female third speaker (She, her, herself). Pronoun of single
male third speaker used by the character in their utterances
around 179 times (12.18%). This is inversely proportional to
the pronoun of single female third speaker which used around
20 times (1.36%).

review.

used for analyzing data in this research, namely Metode Padan
(Identity Method), Metode Agih (Distributional Method), and
Metode Refleksif-Introspektif (Reflective-Introspective Method)

4 Major findings From this research, it can be concluded that most speakers,
whether the host and the guests in the talk show tend to use
polite expressions such as ‘Saya’ and kinship lexemes and they
rarely use slang words such as ‘Gua’ or ‘Gue’. However, they also
tend to use some certain person deictic expressions in
inappropriate way. The use of person deixis by the host and the
guests in Mata Najwa is influenced by several factors. Those
factors are the topic of the conversation, the situation when the
speakers are speaking, the power of the participants, the closeness
or solidarity and formality between the speaker and the addressee,
the language habit of the speaker and the linguistic community,
and the speaker’s intention or purpose.

absolute social deixis. Then, based on the aims of social deixis,
there were 19 utterances which consist of 12 utterance to express
politeness and respect, 18 utterances to express intimacy and 7
utterances to express indentify of author. Based on the aim of
data, the researcher concluded that the dominant of social deixis
in the movie beauty and the beast was to express intimacy.

Summary of the article
(one paragraph) The study from Igaratu Noerrofi’a and Syaiful Bahri which

focused on analysis of Social Deixis in the Movie Beauty and the

Beast in 2019. The aim of this resears to describe the kind of social

deixis and aims of social deixs in the movie entitle benauty and the

beast. The methodology of this research is qualitative method.

The researcher analyze the data by using Stephen C.levinson. to

describe the aims of social deixis the researcher using descrituve

method to explained it. the data took from movie beauty and the

beast that contained social deixis spoken by the characters in the

movies. The result of this study, there were 34 utterances

contained of social deixis in the movie beauty and the beast. Based

on kind of social deixis, there are two kind of social deixis found,

they are relational social deixis and absolute social deixis which is

relational social deixis is mostly used in this movie. The relational

social deixis consist of 18 utterance categorized and 16 uterances

design; and data souce; data took form the interview script form CNN’s official online
library and intervies that downloaded as a video form the PTV
news youtube channel. The researcher also using documentary
techniques to collect the interview data from CNN’c official
website and the PTV youtube official cahnnel. The data collected is
the transcript of the interview.

4 Major findings The result of this study found the kind of social deixs in Imran
khans’s interview with CNN. They are absolute social deixis and
relational social deixis. For abosulute social deixis consit of 7 data
and relational social deixis consist of 626 data which is considered
the dominat type of social deixis. The most dominant social deixis
expression is “we/our/us” with occurences and has the highest
frequency rate and includes in first person plural deixis.
Furthermore, the function of social deixis in Imran khan’s interview
with CNN found the social status differentiation function,
politeness function, and social identity function.
