Now class, let us know what a common noun is.

Everyone please read. A common noun is the general, non-

thing or idea.

Usually, common nouns are not capitalized unless

they begin a sentence.

What about proper nouns?

A proper noun is specific, unique
person, place, things, or idea. Unlike
Everyone please read. common nouns, proper nouns are
always capitalized.
Yes, teacher, whether they begin a
“Mara, Do you think it’s true?” sentence or not, proper nouns are
always capitalized.

That’s right. Now class, from what your classmate

said earlier. Those words in our activity are closely
related.

What do you think is the relationship of common

nouns and proper nouns?

Anyone..
Nico: Every common noun has an
equivalent of proper noun
Okay, Nico!

I think some of you are still confused with the proper

nouns and common nouns.

Listen class, the relationship maybe you can think

about proper nouns as specific examples of common
nouns.

Let us have another example.

Now, look at this word.

What is the first word?

church

Church is common noun. St. Ferdinand Cathedral Parish

Can you give an example of

church.

Very good! that is what we called

proper nouns.

Another example.. Attorney. Panganiban

person

Can you give an example of a

person’s name?

it seems like you already know the

difference between the common
noun and proper noun. And
remember that, the difference
between the two is what type of
things they are referring to.

Common nouns are the generic

things, while proper nouns is the
specific things.

your activity in just 5 minutes then later, I will
call each of your representative to answer your
group work.

Pupils: Everyone should cooperate

(The teacher will give an
instruction and remind pupils of
the group norm)

What should we do when doing an activity?

Pupils: Everyone should minimize the noise

group activity?

I hope you will cooperate with your groupmates

and minimize your noise.

do we use capital letters?
