Learning Log
Purpose of the event: To gather community members and volunteers to clean Sisal
Beach, aiming to remove trash and pollutants, thereby protecting marine life and
enhancing the beach's natural beauty.
Goals of your role: To actively participate in the cleaning efforts, ensure effective waste
collection and segregation, and promote environmental awareness among participants.
Important details about your participation: I focused on the collection and separation of
waste into two main categories: general trash and glass. I successfully filled one bag with
general waste and another with glass items, contributing to the efficient recycling and
disposal process.
Mention the three most significant learning experiences / reflections you had
because of your participation in this event/project:
● Realized the power of teamwork in cleanup efforts, seeing how collaboration brings
impactful environmental change.
● This event strengthened my resolve to protect the environment, prompting me to
consider my own waste habits and environmental impact more carefully.
● Fueled my drive to stay involved in environmental conservation and seek further
ways to contribute positively.
How did you feel while participating in the event? Felt a profound sense of pride and
engagement as we worked side by side, turning our collective concern into action for a
cleaner environment.
What did you expect to learn from the experience? Anticipated learning about
mobilizing community involvement in environmental preservation and the logistics of
organizing such events.
Did the event meet your expectations? Absolutely. How? It introduced me to new
perspectives on conservation and the vital role communities play in protecting their local
environments.
Did you feel motivated to learn more about this movement and/or future events?
Would you be open to participate in related events? Definitely, it has made me eager to
dive deeper into environmental movements and seek out more opportunities for
involvement.
How do you think this event promoted the leadership abilities of its participants? It
showcased how effective leadership is rooted in collaboration and clear communication,
essential for successful teamwork.
Do you think you put into practice your leadership abilities by volunteering in this
event? In what ways? Yes, by leading by example, showing dedication and enthusiasm, I
was able to inspire and motivate my team towards achieving our collective goals.
