Digital Buffers can be used to isolate other gates or circuit stages from each other preventing the impedance of
one circuit from affecting the impedance of another.
A digital buffer can also be used to drive high current loads such as transistor switches because their output
drive capability is generally much higher than their input signal requirements.
In other words buffers can be used for power amplification of a digital signal as they have what is called a high
“fan-out” capability.

Tri state devices
▪ Tri state devices are those digital devices which have an another state, other than 1 and 0, as in normal
digital devices.
▪ This state is actually an ‘undefined’ state, means neither on or off.
▪ It cannot be represented by any logic expression & It can be called as an floating state.
▪ This is called as the Tri state or 3 state & devices possessing this property is a tri state device.
▪ Below figures represent the symbol of such a tri state device
A tri-state buffer is similar to a buffer, but it adds an additional "enable" input that controls whether the primary
If the "enable" inputs signal is true, the tri-state buffer behaves like a normal buffer.
If the "enable" input signal is false, the tri-state buffer passes a high impedance (or hi-Z) signal, which effectively
Tri-state buffers are often connected to a bus which allows multiple signals to travel along the same connection.
