Your cheat sheet


As organic reach on Facebook becomes increasingly
competitive, it’s likely you’ll have to pay for
Facebook ads to maximise the impact of your content.

So what ad type should you choose and what do you need to get started?

Single image
Format: jpg or png
Size: at least 1,080 x 1,080 pixels
Ratio (with link): 1.9:1
Ratio (without link): 9:16 to 16:9
Post text: 125 characters (incl. spaces)
Headline: 25 characters (incl. spaces)
Link description: 30 characters (incl. spaces)

Tips
Images of more than 20% text may experience reduced
distribution and exposure. Use this Facebook tool to
check whether your image meets the guidelines.

If you have more than one related image, show up to 10


images in a slideshow ad.

Create an interactive experience with Panorama


or 360 photos.

Single video
Format: .MOV or .MP4 recommended
File size: 4GB max.
Ratio: 9:16 to 16:9
Max. length: 240 min.
Post text: 125 characters (incl. spaces)
Headline: 25 characters (incl. spaces)
Link description: 30 characters (incl. spaces)

Image captions and audio are optional but

Carousel
Run up to 10 images or videos in a single ad. Create a unique
link for each image or video to showcase different products,
details or to tell a whole story.

Image Video

Size: 1,080 x 1,080 pixels recommended
Ratio: 1:1 (square) File size: 4GB max.
Max. size: 30MB Aspect ratio: 1:1 (square)

Tips
Let Facebook optimise the order of the carousel cards,
based on each card's performance – provided they’re
not formatted to tell a sequential story.

Use carousel to showcase a single, long image

Instant Experience
Previously known as the Canvas
ad, this full-screen, immersive
mobile ad experience, lets users
interact with your content. Pick Ad unit
