Key Concepts
1. Wave-Particle Duality
One of the most intriguing concepts in quantum physics is wave-particle duality.
It suggests that particles such as electrons and photons exhibit both wave-like
and particle-like behavior depending on the circumstances of the experiment.
2. Superposition
Superposition is a fundamental principle in quantum mechanics that states that a
particle can exist in multiple states simultaneously until it is measured or
observed. This concept is illustrated by the famous thought experiment known as
Schrödinger's cat.
3. Uncertainty Principle
The uncertainty principle, formulated by Werner Heisenberg, states that it is
impossible to simultaneously know both the precise position and momentum of a
particle with absolute certainty. This principle imposes fundamental limits on
the accuracy of measurements in the quantum world.
4. Quantum Entanglement
Quantum entanglement is a phenomenon in which the quantum states of two or more
particles become correlated in such a way that the state of one particle cannot
be described independently of the state of the others, even when they are
separated by large distances.
