Nature walk around the school to see things in the environment.

Some plants are a source of food.
They give us medicine

Animals

Some animals give us food.


Some animals are used for transport.
Some animals keep security.

Children will go out and observe the hills in the environment.

What are living things?
Living things are things which;

Some of the living things in our environment are;

Activity
Children will go out to see the living things in the environment.

Draw and name any two living things you have seen.

Non living things in our environment
Non living things are the things which do not feed, excrete, reproduce, respire, grow and
move.
Examples of non living things are;
hills, mountains, land, cups, plates, tables, etc
Activity
Children will observe non living things in the environment.

Draw and name any three non living things

Lesson 10
Sources of water
We can get water from the following sources;
lakes boreholes
rivers seas
oceans swamps
springs streams
rain wells

The major source of water is rain.

Activities that spoil our environment


 cutting down trees.  poor farming methods e.g over
 bush burning. cultivation.
 poor fishing methods e.g catching fish  brick making.
with poison.  poor waste disposal
 hunting wild animals in reserved areas  over grazing
(game parks)  leaving un covered holes
 building / farming in swamps or  pollution
wetlands.
Activity
Children will move out to see areas where the environment is destroyed
Exercise
Mention any three activities that spoil our environment.

2. Ways of caring for environment [conservation of the environment]
