FAQ
Quick answers before heading to the manual or videos.

How does it work?

Though the setup changes slightly for each DAW (see manual and video series), the
basics are almost always the same:

1. Create a new MIDI channel in your DAW.

2. Insert a long MIDI note, typically in the key of your track, on this channel.
3. Add Rhythmizer Ultra as a plugin on this channel.

Rhythmizer will transform the original MIDI note into an infinite stream of randomized
MIDI notes. To utilize these in your project:

1. Open another channel and load your preferred synth or sampler.

2. Use your DAW’s MIDI routing options to direct the randomized MIDI output from
Rhythmizer to this synth or sampler.

This will enable Rhythmizer’s randomized MIDI sequence to control your synth or
sampler.

Why can’t I just add it as a MIDI effect?

Every DAW behaves differently and has different rules. Logic and Reaper users can
throw a Rhythmizer onto the same channel. Cubase and Live users must run Rhythmizer
on a second channel - it’s down to the DAW.

Where’s my license key?

After your order, you’ll get an order confirmation email, as well as an order with your
downloads.

Your license key will arrive in a separate email. Please note that this email is from our
[email protected] email address. If you cannot find it, please check your spam
folder.

It’s not showing in FL Studio

Please use FL Studio 20.7.2 or later
It sounds out of time
Different DAWs handle MIDI routing differently. For instance, Cubase timing relies on
your audio buffer size. We recommend 512 samples or less, plus the deactivation of ASIO
Guard (see manual/video series).

FL Studio users are strongly advised to check the ‘Fixed Buffer Size’ box - check out the
DAW setup guide.

I can’t find the VST3/AU in Live

Rhythmizer is a VST3, which is slightly different from a VST. In your Live preferences,
make sure ‘Use VST3 Plug-in System Folders’ is activated.

Default VST3 system folders for Windows:

64-bit Windows | C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 or

32-bit Windows | C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3

VST3 on Mac:

Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST3

Please note, the AU file in Rhythmizer is created for Logic users only.

Can I record Rhythmizer’s MIDI output?

Yes you can. In most DAWs, it’s just a case of record-arming the channel that is receiving
Rhythmizer’s MIDI input, and hitting record. Alternatively, use the new Drag to MIDI
feautre (Ultra v.1.1).

• Logic doesn’t allow MIDI output recording by default. This video explains IAC well.
• FL Studio uses their MIDI Burn function. Here’s a video for more info.

DAW Limitations
As noted on the product page, the performance of Rhythmizer may vary based on the
specific limitations of each DAW:

• Ableton Live 11 is recommended, as Live 10 doesn’t support Bend Mode or CC

mapping.

• Some users have had issues with Cubase 11, so updating to 12 is recommended.

• Reason lacks the MIDI routing necessary to run Rhythmizer.

• Rhythmizer is not available for Pro Tools at this time

• Note for Bitwig users: please install CLAP at installation to enable the Note FX device
needed for Bend Mode operation.
