We live in an era of scientific and technological development. Science and technology have brought a
lot of significant changes that made our lives more comfortable and more secure.
Scientists have achieved great success by conquering space and creating amazing inventions like
artificial satellites, television, computers, robots……etc. Thanks to these technological products and
others, people lead a luxurious lifestyle. Today, we can reach distant places in few hours. Even our
domestic life has improved a lot, nowadays, preparing our meals takes less time ,than it used to be in the
past, using gas stoves and microwaves. In many developed countries, all household work including:
cooking, cleaning…is done by robots.
Major advances in technology have been made in different fields. In medicine, X ray machines and
other gadgets help doctors in revealing the inner portion of the body. Science is also applied in
agriculture. It has provided farmers with efficient machines and equipment which helped them lessen
efforts and increase crop productivity. Commerce has also benefited from scientific progress; many banks
have already made transactions possible online and accessible to people everywhere. Companies like
PayPal and Venmo have created platforms where people can send and receive money from any location
using the Internet.
No one can deny the fact that scientific and technological advancement has transformed our lives
dramatically, however, this new wave of progress has given rise to many modern social, environmental
and even psychological dilemmas and issues such as wars, global warming, addiction, and
depression….etc.
