Morgan

5. Read this email from your boss about a 3D printer your company bought.
Here are my comments on the CCPrint3D printer we bought last week after a client
recommended it.
Good points: fast; good quality machine; not expensive
Bad points: poor customer support
Could you post a review on their website, please?
Write a product review about the CCPrint3D printer:
• saying why your company chose this printer.
• giving details of good points.
• describing negative points.
• saying whether you recommend it or not.
Write about 60–80 words.
I chose the CCPrint3D model because a client recommended it to me, he said it
performed as well as its more expensive competitors. For the price, it is pretty good value
for money. Everyone can buy it to serve their need. I was impressed by the printer’s fast
printing speed. Compared to other printers that often print quite slowly, the CCPrint3D
takes me a short time to print documents. What I like most was the good quality machine.
The printer is very durable, it is rarely broken although I have used it for a long time.
However, the main downside for me is that the customer support isn’t very good. We
could not speak to anyone when we had a problem setting it up. No one came to fix the
printer when it broke. If you are looking for an inexpensive but good quality printer, then
I recommend the CCPrint3D.

From: Linda
Subject: thank-you letter
Dear Mr Philips,
I am writing to thank you for your help last week to complete the order on time for the
product launch.
The product launch ran very smoothly thanks to the hard work of all your staff. They
work very hard, especially the extra shifts they worked in order to finish the order. I
would also like to express our appreciation for the prompt way in which your staff dealt
the problems there were with some of the catering facilities. Any problems were sorted
out very quickly, and the Production Manager was extremely helpful. In fact, they
seemed to be able to deal with any problems that came up.
We will definitely use your company again in the future and will recommend you to other
companies.
I would like to thank you and your staff once again and I look forward to working with
you in the near future.
Yours sincerely,
Linda

8. Read this email from your manager about research into customer service.
Please can you prepare a report about the customer service problems we’ve had recently.
I think the main one is that staff do not answer the phone quickly enough. An additional
problem is staff being rude.
Write part of a short report. Write an introduction and a paragraph giving details:
• introduce the report.
• outline a key problem.
• give details.
• give reasons.
Write about 60–80 words.
There have been some customer service problems so we need to solve these problems.
This report is to examine customer service problems and look at reasons for these.
One of the key problems is that staff do not answer the phone quickly. It was found that a
few staff have left and have not been replaced. Last week, a customer called to support
television repair, they called for a long time, but no one answered the phone. He was very
disappointed with the customer service, and we lost a potential customer.
In addition, customers complain that staff are rude. Staff spoke rudely, stormed at
violently, and did not even bother to answer customer’s questions. It seems that staff are
unhappy when they have to work overtime and that is probably why they are not doing
their jobs properly.
