Chapter 66
1) Provide the housing Pos. 008 after pinning with parallel pins Pos. 055.
2) Fit the housing Pos. 008 and measure dimension "a" in accorance with
detail N. Then remove the housing again.
4) Fit the elastic screw Pos. 003 in the lever of the connecting unit Pos. 004.
– see section A-A and detail L
5) Mount connecting unit Pos. 004 on drive shaft. – see sections A-A and C-C

7) Fix adjusting disc Pos. 009 and packing ring Pos. 010 with screws Pos. 036;
do not tighten them.– see sections A-A and D-D
8) Insert shaft encoder drive Pos. 012 with packing ring Pos. 011 over elastic
screw Pos. 003 in housing Pos. 008.
Important: The front side bore ∅ 8 in the shaft of the shaft encoder
drive must mesh with the locating pin of the connecting unit Pos. 004 –
see detail L!
Fasten shaft encoder drive and adjusting disc, and secure them (Pos. 036,
040, 052, 053).
9) Check the fitting positions of lever and springs to the connecting unit through
the inspection opening in housing Pos. 008; pay special attention to the
connection in accordance with detail L, turning the crankshaft!
10) Pre-tension elastic screw Pos. 003 and nut Pos. 054 with the specified
torque load. Important: While tightening firmly hold the shaft to the
shaft encoder drive!
12) Check if all the marks on the shaft encoder drive Pos.012 are in the
specified position – see assembly drawing and instruction 4-
107.364.924 chapter 3.
15) Prior to putting the engine into operation check lubricating oil flow at shaft
encoder drive through the inspection opening in housing Pos. 008. – see
section K-K
16) Periodically check the lubricating oil flow to protect throttle Pos. 025 from
possible soiling!
1) Insert shaft encoder Pos. 003 in guide of bearing housing Pos. 002, and fit
with inner bolts, washers, and locking plates (Pos. 014,026,029)
3) Place toothed belt Pos. 005 and bring the mark of gear wheel Pos. 004 to
position "TDC 1" (vertically pointing to the top). Important: locating pin in
bearing housing opposite (vertical to the bottom), see view B.
4) Align the horizontal marks on gear wheel and holder of shaft encoder Pos.
003 with each other.
5) Push shaft encoder Pos. 003 outwards till toothed belt is slightly tensioned.
6) Check if the marks are in the positions prescribed (see view B) and whether
the toothed belt is meshing properly with the gear wheels.
10) Loosen all bolts (Pos. 029) of the shaft encoder concerned until it can easily
be moved in the guide.
11) Tension toothed belt with 4.5kg by means of the spring balance!
Important: Take care of pulling the spring balance carefully in
tensioning direction in order to minimize the friction in holder guide
and screw seats!
12) Slightly wedge shaft encoder with two screws facing each other!
13) Rotate drive shaft several times to allow the toothed belt adapting
freely
to its running track; repeat the tensioning procedure if the belt
slackens!
Important: In case the transducer is to be exchanged on the engine,
turn the crankshaft!
14) Align the long tab of lock washer Pos. 026 and then bend it as shown in
view B. Important: Used washers are to be replaced for each re-
tensioning of the belt! Above all, bend back the long tabs before re-
tensioning, to keep free movement of the holder in the guide!
17) Check the belt tension after about 5 running hours, re-tension if necessary.
Further checks following the instructions given in the Operating Manual!
