PURPOSE
The present document has the aim to provide the list of the internal routine tests for
medium voltage Metal Clad switchgear (Primary Switchgear) in compliance with the
requirements of the standards.
CONTENTS:
Purpose
These Inspections shall be carried out to ensure that the Switchgear has been constructed
and assembled in accordance with the relevant Drawings and Specifications.
Preliminary Conditions
The Switchgear shall be completely assembled.
Documents Required
Procedure
1.3 Check the nameplate ,labels and mimic diagrams according to the drawings
1.5 Check the correct accommodation of the LV apparatus according to the drawings
1.6 Check basic dimensions and diagonal of the cubicles after assembly
according to the general arrangement drawings
1.9 Check that no damages in the apparatus occurred during the assembly
1.10 Check that the type and ratio of each current and voltage transformer are according to
the code 1 single lines.
1.11 Check that the type of each circuit breaker is according to the specification.
Purpose
This test shall be carried out to ensure the correct mechanical operation of the Switchgear
and that all-mechanical interlock operates correctly.
Preliminary Conditions
- Switchgear completely assembled.
- Auxiliary circuit supplies available.
Procedure
2.2 Check that the shutters are automatically and fully closed when the circuit
breaker/vacuum contactors is withdrawn out from the switchgear panel.
2.3 Check the impossibility of either inserting or isolating the circuit breaker when closed.
2.4 Check that the mechanical interlock prevents the circuit breaker contacts closing if the
truck is positioned between service and test position.
2.5 Check that the circuit breaker cannot be inserted into service position when the earthing
switch is closed.
2.6 Check that the earthing switch cannot be closed when the circuit breaker is in service
position
2.8 Check that the circuit breaker cannot be inserted into service position when the
secondary contacts plug has not been fitted.
2.9 Check the impossibility disconnects the secondary contacts plug of the circuit breaker
when the circuit breaker is in service position.
2.10 Check the functionality of the key interlocks, if provided and the difference in code
Preliminary Conditions
- Switchgear completely assembled.
- Interconnection between panels finished.
- Auxiliary circuit supplies available.
Relay tester,
Digital multi meter
Auxiliary power supplies
Procedure
3.2 Check the correct function of the circuits to be connected to the D.C.S.
(if provided)
3.3 Check the functionality of the circuit breaker limit switches (test / service)
3.4 Check the functionality of the circuit breaker aux. contacts (open / closed).
3.5 Check the functionality of the earthing switch aux. contacts (open / closed)
3.6 Following the SWGR functional schemes and the protection relays,
verify the panels and switchgear functionality. Checking:
Electrical interlocks, electrical sequences, functional and control indicators.

Purpose
Dielectric test is performed to verify if the insulation of live parts is satisfactory and to
permit the Switchgear to be energized.
Preliminary conditions
- Equipment installed and connected.
- Switchgear is cleaned of dust, dirt, moisture, etc.
- Temporary disconnection of electronic devices.
- Voltage transformer fuses drawn out.
Procedure
Carry out the main circuits power frequency voltage withstand test among each phase in
succession and the earthed one. The circuit breakers / LBS are closed.
Acceptance Criteria
The test is considered as successful if neither flashovers nor perforations occur during each
test

Procedure
Carry out the measuring of the resistance of the switchgear's main circuits,
applying a current of range 100A - 200A DC on each phase in succession.
Acceptance Criteria
Current Circuits
Procedure
7.1 According to CTs ratio inject to primary side a suitable one / three phases current
and verify the correct ammeter reading, current transducers function etc.
According to Specifications of current protection functions carry out the
secondary injection to the protection relays to verify the correct operation of
protection circuits.
Voltage Circuits
Procedure
