Dassault Falcon has prepared a generic list of NEF items that do not affect safety of flight and as such
are eligible to be included in the NEF program for Falcon aircraft. The initial generic list is based on
the F900/F2000 models and has been reviewed with the FAA prior to issuance.
You can build your own NEF list based on this generic list, customizing this list as necessary and
adding your specific items that are dispatchable according to your NEF process.
As per FAA Order 8900.1, the operator is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and
revising the NEF program. A particular item may not need to be in your NEF list prior to use. If an item
is not in your NEF list, you must follow the procedures developed for qualifying the NEF item prior to
allowing the item to be considered NEF.
Development of a NEF list is not required by itself. Only the NEF program is approved by the CHDO.
Developing a NEF list is however encouraged as it will reduce your time spent analysing recurring
deferrals of the same item.
The flowchart included in Order 8900.1 Volume 4 Chapter 4 Section 4 (see 4-706 D) is provided as a
guide for developing a NEF deferral process.
Once the FAA MMEL includes a reference to the NEF, you will need to defer all NEF items for
approval under your approved NEF program with the CHDO.Even if NEF items are not safety-of-
flight items, we do recommend that you review them with your flight crews, and maintenance and
operational personnel for concurrence.
