4.1 General
We have revised the CMN-2800 RF UNIT of the JHS-800S Marine VHF radiotelephone and the software to control the new unit as
mentioned on JD-1406-22 Technical Information. However it has been found that the following serial number's products that are
connected to the MFD and operated from it, have experienced a VHF control failure screen that appears on the MFD. Therefore, for
these products, perform the countermeasure as given below.

Serial number: BK39091 - BK39195, BK39206 - BK39289, and BK39306 - BK39405 with software maintenance number 00.92B

4.2 Phenomenon and Countermeasure

If the JHS-800S products mentioned above are connected to the MFD and operated from it, the following VHF control failure screen
appears on the MFD and the VHF control is no longer available. Therefore, upgrade the software to the latest version as follows. (The
following latest maintenance number 00.92D is also mentioned on JD-1406-22 Technical Information.)

From: Old software version SVer. 1.03/ Maintenance number MNo. 00.92B
To: New software version SVer. 1.03/ Maintenance number MNo. 00.92D

4.3 Others
The software upgrade procedure is as follows.
1) Download the objective software "JHS-800S_0103092D.zip" and "NCM-980_0103092D.zip" on the MSweb homepage.
2) Upgrade the software of the objective equipment referring the attached "JD210928D JHS-800S Software Upgrade Procedures".
3) Fill in the attached "7ZPJD0744A VHF JHS-800S Maintenance Record" and send it via E-mail to the address given on the form.

JHS-800S Software Upgrade Procedures

To upgrade the software of the JHS-800S Marine VHF radiotelephone and/or the NCM-980 Controller using the
LAN port on the back of them and PC, follow the procedure below. Additionally, If multiple NCM-980s are
installed, upgrade all of the NCM-980 respectively.

1. Upgrade Preparations
Prepare the following items to upgrade the software.
 PC environment Windows XP/Vista/7/10 operating system, with more than 1 MB of
available space on the hard disk, and a LAN port. NET Framework
2.0 must be installed.
 Cable for upgrade LAN cable (Cat-5 or more)
 Target software JHS-800S_xxxxxxx.jrc for Marine VHF radiotelephone
NCM-980_xxxxxxx.jrc for controller
 Upgrade tool software (PC app.) Distribution file "CYC762_UpdateTool_JHS800S.zip"
Note) Common software for such INM-C and/or AIS.

To install: Unzip the above files and save them in the same folder.
To uninstall: Delete all of the installed files.

2. Upgrade Procedure
This section explains how to connect a computer (hereafter PC) and start the tools to do an upgrade.

1) Connect JHS-800S or NCM-980 and the PC as shown below. And also, directly connecting JHS-800S or
NCM-980 and the PC with LAN cable is available.

2) Turn on the target device to upgrade.

3) Log in the Windows PC using an administrator's account.
4) Confirm that the network is connected.
5) Open the CYC762_UpdateTool_JHS800S.zip file on the computer and save the contents to the desktop.
(The CYC762_UpdateTool_JHS800S folder is prepared.)
6) In the folder, execute JrcUpdateTool.exe as an administrator.

7) The screen shown below is displayed.

Note) The indicated values are data registered in the configuration files such as jrcnet.csv, lwenet.csv or
JrcUpdateTool.exe.config.

8) Select LAN in the [Interface] field.

9) Select the LWE network from the [Network] list. After that the IP address and subnet mask appear in the
PC IP/Mask field. If the first three octets of the target unit IP address are not correct, set it manually.
Additionally, regarding the fourth octet of the PC IP, set the adequate number so that the PC IP address is
different from the IP addresses of JHS-800S and/or NCM-980 described below.

10) In the [Adapter] list, select the network adapter that is connected to the targeted device.

11) Click the [Set IP] button to temporarily change the IPv4 setting to the values in IP and Mask.
After that the popup showing "IP Setting is OK" appears as follows.

12) Select the upgrade device from the [Equipment] list.

After selecting it, the Equipment IP address is automatically displayed. However if the IP address is not
correct, input the correct IP address into the [Equipment IP] field manually.
Note) Regarding the IP address, refer to the "Additional Info) Setting IP address on the LAN" on P.8 below.

13) Click the [Get Version] button to get the current maintenance number of the software.
After getting it, the following "OK" popup is appeared.

14) Select the current software from the [Software] list.

15) Click the [Browse...] button to open the file selection dialog box.
Select the new software file from the file selection dialog box.

16) The selected file information are indicated on the [Version] and [Information] field.

17) Click the [Update] button to start the software upgrade.

18) When the upgrade is complete, the target unit restart automatically. And the following popup showing
"Update completed" and the new/old versions is displayed.

19) Click the [X] button at the top of the screen to close the application.

20) After restarting the equipment, touch the CODE INPUT button in the main menu and input "6926" to start
the field maintenance mode.

21) From the main menu, touch the [USER MENU]  [MAINT]  [S/W VER] buttons to show the following
screen.

22) Touch the [MAINT NUMBER] button and confirm that the maintenance number is upgraded correctly and
the software upgrade is complete.

23) Turn off the power and then back on again to start the user mode.

Additional Info) Setting IP address on the LAN

When connecting the multiple JHS-800S and NCM-980 to the LAN, set the IP addresses as follows.

1) From the main menu in the field maintenance mode, touch [MAINT MENU] > [PRIMAL SET] > [COMM SET]
buttons to open the [2/2] ETHERNET SET menu.

2) Set the IP addresses and the SFI (System Function ID) of the JHS-800S and/or NCM-980 on the menu of the
[2/2] ETHERNET SET referring the following table.
