Lesson Plan: Analysis Skills - Lesson 2

Grade Level: Seventh

Duration: 2 x 40 minutes

Topic: Globalisation
Learning Objectives:

By the end of these lessons, students will be able to:

1. Define what an issue and a perspective are in the context of globalisation.

2. Identify and articulate the main issues related to globalisation.

3. Recognize and describe different perspectives on globalisation from various sources.

4. Analyze and compare evidence from different perspectives to develop a more nuanced understanding of
globalisation.

Resources Needed:

Learner's Skills Book 7

Access to various multimedia sources on globalisation (articles, videos, podcasts)

Chart paper and markers

Computers or tablets with internet access

Lesson 1: Understanding Globalisation

Introduction (10 minutes)

Begin with a short video that introduces globalisation in a broad sense.

Discuss what students already know about globalisation. List these on the board.

Activity 1: Defining Issues and Perspectives (15 minutes)

Split students into small groups.

Assign each group to read a section from Learner's Skills Book 7 that discusses globalisation.

Each group will identify the main issue discussed in their section and summarize it for the class.

Discuss what a perspective is and how it can vary from person to person or culture to culture.

Activity 2: Identifying Perspectives on Globalisation (15 minutes)

Introduce the concept of perspectives using globalisation as the context.

Provide examples of different perspectives on globalisation (e.g., an environmentalist, a business owner, a

worker, a consumer).

Groups will then present the issue they identified earlier and speculate on different perspectives related to
that issue.

Conclusion (5 minutes)
Summarize the day's learning.

Assign homework: Students will find an article or video on globalisation and write a paragraph summarizing
the perspective presented.

Lesson 2: Analyzing Perspectives on Globalisation

Introduction (5 minutes)
Review homework assignments from the previous class.

Highlight the diversity of perspectives on globalisation.

Activity 1: Gathering Evidence (20 minutes)

Students will use computers or tablets to research their assigned perspective from the previous lesson more
deeply.

They should gather evidence that supports this perspective on globalisation.

Encourage students to use multimedia sources for a varied understanding.

Activity 2: Perspective Analysis (15 minutes)

In their groups, students will analyze the evidence they have gathered.

They will create a poster that includes the main points of their perspective, supported by the evidence they
found.

Each group will briefly present their poster to the class, explaining the perspective and the evidence that
supports it.

Conclusion (10 minutes)

Conduct a class discussion on how different perspectives can provide a more complete understanding of
globalisation.

Discuss how analyzing perspectives can help us understand the complexity of global issues.

Assessment:
Participation in group discussions and activities.

Quality of the poster presentation, including clarity of the perspective and how well the evidence supports it.

Written paragraph from the homework assignment for understanding and summarizing perspectives.

Homework:

Reflect on the perspectives presented today. Write a short essay on how understanding different perspectives
on globalisation can affect one's opinion on the issue.
