Reading Comprehension - Forests
Reading Comprehension - Forests
The documentary Cut Them Down! is about how forests are being
destroyed. It was the best documentary I have ever seen. Although many
of the pictures were very sad to see, I believe it is a very interesting
documentary to watch. I would advise everyone to watch it because I
learned so much from it. I have been reading a lot about the problem
recently. That made me think that there was no way to save the forests.
Rainforests are areas of tall, mostly green, trees. They are found in many
parts in the world including Africa, Central Asia and Australia. The biggest
rainforest in South America is the size of America! Rainforests are humid
with high amounts of rainfall. Rainforests are the perfect environment for
animals to live in. The weather is quite warm and never too hot or cold.
Rainforests are very important to life on Earth. They can remove some
greenhouse gases from the air. This means they help to prevent climate
change. The forests also provide us with air, water, food, and some
medicines. The trees take in large amounts of CO2 and create some of the
oxygen we need to breathe. Finally, people are starting to cut down fewer
trees compared to how many they did in the past. After watching the
documentary, I'm the happiest I have ever been about the issue. Things are
changing, and now, I have hope! Companies are going paperless and
recycling old products. We mustn't stop here. We must continue to protect
our planet.
