Answer:

The content standard Numbers and Number Sense demonstrates understanding of the four
fundamental operations involving fractions and decimals.

The performance standard is able to apply the four fundamental operations involving fractions and
decimals in mathematical problems and real-life situation.

2. What is a competency?

Answer:

A competency is the capability to apply or use a set of related knowledge, skills, and abilities required to
successfully perform "critical work functions" or tasks in a defined work setting.

Competence also can be described as the ability to do something successfully. Likewise, a competent
worker is someone who is qualified for a specific role because of their skills, knowledge and attributes
which allows them to work safely and efficiently.

3. Enumerate the grade 6 math competencies for quarter 1?

Answer:

The grade 6 math competencies for quarter 1 are the following:

1. Adds and subtracts simple fractions and mixed numbers without or wither grouping.
2. Solves routine and non-routine problems involving addition and/or subtraction of fractions using
appropriate problem solving strategies and tools.
3. Creates problems (with reasonable answers) involving addition and/or subtraction of fractions.

4. Multiplies simple fractions and mixed fractions


5. Solves routine or non-routine problems involving multiplication without or with addition or
subtraction of fractions and mixed fractions using appropriate problem solving strategies and
tools.
6. Creates problems (with reasonable answers) involving multiplication without or with addition
or subtraction of fractions and mixed fractions
7. Divides simple fractions and mixed fractions
8. Solves routine or non-routine problems involving division without or with any ofthe other
operations of fractions and mixed fractions using appropriate problem solving strategies and
tools.
