= also known as online safety or cyber safety

- Internet safety refers to the practice of protecting yourself, your information, and your digital
data while using the internet.
- We can describe it as a set of measures designed to make it impossible or difficult for an
attacker to obtain private information.
- Can prevent you from taking over a computer or even an entire network.

CYBERCRIMES
- Cybercrime is a criminal activity involving computer networks and digital technologies to
commit illegal acts.
- These crimes can be numerous and target individuals, organizations, or governments.
SCAMS

IDENTITY THEFT
Cyber criminals can steal personal information, such as social security numbers, credit card details or
login information, and impersonate people for financial gain or other illegal purposes.

PHISING
is tricking individuals into providing sensitive information by posing as trustworthy entities. This is
often done through fake emails, messages, or websites that appear to be legitimate.

MALWARE
Is any software designed to disrupt a computer, server, or network, leak private information, or gain
unauthorized access to information or system. It has many types such as computer viruses, spyware,
Trojan horses, etc.

CYBERBULLYING
Is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means. It has become common among teenagers
due to communication technology. This is in digital spaces, especially on social media sites. An
attacker for example threatens to blackmail the victim with their nude photo.

FINANCIAL FRAUD
Targeting financial systems, including unauthorized access to banking accounts, credit card fraud, or
manipulation of financial transactions.

DISTRIBUTED DENIAL OF SERVICE ATTACKS (DDOS)


Actions that disrupt or prevent the normal functioning of a website or network by overwhelming it
with many requests, making it temporarily or permanently unavailable.
PROTECTION
1. Personal information protection
- Be cautious about sharing personal information online and avoid posting sensitive
details such as your full address, phone number, or financial information.

2. Strong password
- Use a strong, unique password, for your online account.
- typically includes a mix of upper and lowercase letter, numbers or special
characters.
- avoid using easily guessable information, such as birthdays or names.
- Its also good to use different passwords to different websites.

3. Secure wi-fi connections


- Use secure wi-fi connections.
- avoid using public wi-fi for confidential activities such as logging in to a bank
account

4. Two factor authentication


- Enable two-factor authentication whenever is possible.
- This adds extra security by requiring a second form of verification, they send a
code to your mobile device, in addition to your password.

5. Safe online shopping


- When you are shopping online use reputable websites with secure payment
methods.
- And when it is suspicious use one time credit card, which can your bank provide
to you.

6. Software updates
- regularly update your operating system, antivirus software and other applications.

1. Be careful what you download
- Top goal of cybercriminals is to trick you into downloading malware
- Malware can be in app which you downloading

2. Be careful what you post and where


- Any comment or image you post online may stay online forever because removing
the original wont remove any copies that other people may have made
- Also be careful about personal information about your self online (address, date
of birth or card number)

3. Be careful who you meet online


- People you meet online aren’t always who they claim to be
- Indeed they mayn’t be real
- Fake social medial profiles are a popular way to hackers

4. Use a good antivirus and keep it updated


- Good and quality antivirus provider is key
- They can block common threats like viruses and malware

5. Back up your personal data


- Do back up of important personal information on external hard drivers, bcs you
can easily lose them by attacker, and you will never see them again
- Create new backups regurarly

6. Don’t open every email or messages you will received


- It can be a scam!
- Sites may look real but they are probably fake and the attacker can see your data
for example to bank or email

1. Don’t reveal too much information
2. Choose strong passwords
3. Keep your software updated
4. Backup your data
5. Think before click
6. Secure your wi-fi
7. Use a VPN
- Virtual private network that provides a secure and private connection over the
internet even when you are using a public network
- It creates a private network from a public internet connection (it protecting your
data and privacy)
8. Set up a two-factor authentication
9. Don’t use public networks or devices for online banking
