1.3 Application
1.3 Application
I. PRE-LAB. Previous the lab complete the following tasks in your lab diary by hand. Remember
this will be check by your teacher before your prac/ce individually.
a. Using a Concept Map, represent the concepts of Chemical and Physical Proper/es and
Changes.
Properties
Substances
Chemical Solubility in Effect of Health
Boiling Point Melting Point Density
Formula Water and Enviroment
Table salt
Sugar
Sodium
Bicarbonate
Chloridic Acid
Paraffin
Magnesium
Water
II. Lab Report. Individually, make a lab report that includes the following:
1. Cover page: Logos, school, name of the topic, name of the teacher, /tle, students’ names,
ID, group, and delivery date.
2. TiHle: The /Ple says what you did. It should be brief (aim for ten words or less) and
describe the main point of the experiment or inves/ga/on.
3. Introduc5on: Relevant background informa/on about your prac/ce. Introduce the reader to
your work at the lab using a brief summary about what was done in the lab session. Be sure
your introduc/on includes at least the following terms:
Name:_____________________________________________ Group: ______
o Proper/es of a substance
o Physical and Chemical Proper/es
o Physical and Chemical Changes
4. Purpose and hypothesis or research ques5on: Men/on in one paragraph the objec/ves of
the lab prac/ce and then in one sentence what you may see as a results using your
background informa/on. Make a coherent research ques5on.
6. Materials and Reactants: List everything needed to complete your experiment. For
chemical substances include the name and the chemical formula.
7. Procedure: Explain using diagrams, images and in a detailed way all the steps you followed
to make your lab prac/ce. Be sufficiently detailed that anyone could read this sec/on and
duplicate your experiment. Use a figure or diagram to your experimental setup.
8. Results: Represent you results using a table in which you explain you observa/ons of each
one of the reac/ons seen at the experiment, characteris/cs and add a representa/ve
evidence of each experiment.
Experiment
Experiment Observations Change Property
Evidence
9. Discussion or Analysis: This is where you interpret the data. Include statements that explain
why you got those results. Use your bibliography and deep research to compare your
results (posi/ve or nega/ve) to what they suppose to be. Add the references of all your
research using APA.
10. Conclusion: Is a single paragraph that sums up what happened in the experiment, whether
your hypothesis was accepted or rejected, and what this means. Make at least 3 conclusions
in total about your experiments, your results and about your research. Just one conclusion
by team. You may wish to describe ways the study might have been improved.
11. Final Reflec5ons: Write an individual reflec5on about your work at the lab prac/ce and
what you learned during the ac/vity and during your research.
Name:_____________________________________________ Group: ______
12. References: If your research was based on someone else’s work or if you quote facts that
require documenta/on; you should list these references. Use the APA style to report the
bibliography. In case you have problems with cita/on format consult: hPp://
