EDITING IN WORD 2016

Word 2016 is the most popular word processing software available. It is a part of Microsoft Office
suite. It is used to write letters, notes, stories, assignments etc.
To make changes in a document is called editing. While typing text in word 2016, we may type
wrong, want to add or delete some text, want to move text from one place to another etc. . To make all
such changes, word provides us with some necessary editing tools .
Editing tools are:

 Cut
 Copy
 Paste
 Redo
 Undo
 Spell check
 Find
 Replace

DELETE TEXT
If you make a mistake while typing, you can fix it by using either the backspace or delete key. The
backspace key helps you erase what you've typed before the cursor, like fixing a mistake at the
beginning of a word. The delete key erases what's after the cursor, like fixing a mistake at the end of a
word or deleting whole words or sentences.

 Either open a document you already have or start a new one.


 Move your mouse or use the arrow keys on your keyboard to go to the text you want to delete.
 If the text is to the left of where you are, press the "Backspace" key. It's usually a key with an
arrow pointing to the left.
 If the text is to the right of where you are, press the "Delete" key. It's usually a key with an arrow
pointing to the right.
 Press the backspace or delete key until all the text you want to delete is gone.

INSERT TEXT
In MS Word 2016, 'insert text' means you can put in new words or sentences. To do this, just click
where you want to add something and start typing. The new words will show up where you clicked.
It's like adding pieces to a puzzle to make it better! So, if you want to say more or fix something, just
click and start typing to put in your new words

CUT/COPY TEXT

 Cutting text involves removing it from one place to paste it somewhere else.
 Copying text makes a duplicate that you can paste elsewhere, keeping the original where it was.

 To cut/copy or move the text, follow these steps:


Step 1: Click and drag your mouse to select the text you want to cut or copy.
Step 2: Then, right-click on the selected text. A menu will pop up.
Step 3: Click 'Cut' if you want to move the text or 'Copy' if you want to make a copy.
Step 4 : Finally, click where you want to put the text, right-click again, and select 'Paste'. The text
will move or appear in the new place.

UNDO/REDO

If you accidentally delete something or make a mistake, you can click "undo"
(or press Ctrl + Z) and it'll go back to how it was before.

If you decide you actually wanted to delete something, but then clicked "undo" by mistake,
you can click "redo" (or press Ctrl + Y) and it'll bring back what you just undid.

 To undo, click on the Undo button on the Quick Access Toolbar.


 To redo, click on the Redo button on the Quick Access Toolbar.

SPELL CHECK
In MS Word, there's a tool that checks your spelling and helps you fix mistakes.
Here's how you can use it:

Right-click on the sentence to see suggestions to fix it.

THESAURUS

In MS Word, there's a tool called the "Thesaurus" that helps you find different words that
mean the same thing.
To use the thesaurus, follow these steps:

1. Write a word in your document.


2. Highlight the word you want to find synonyms for.
3. Click on the "Review" tab at the top.
4. Then, click on "Thesaurus" (it looks like a book with a yellow cover).
5. A list of words that mean the same thing will appear.
6. Click on any word in the list to replace the original word with it.
