It’s nice to hear that all are present

today.
2. Review
Do you still remember our last lesson?
Yes, Teacher!
What is it all about?
It is all about the other members
of the solar system.
Very good!

I have here pictures and as a review

you will identify and say something
about them.
1.
SUN – A star that is basis of the solar
system and that sustains life on Earth,
being the source of heat and light.

2.

MOON – It is Earth’s only natural

satellite and the fifth largest moon in
the solar system.

3.

STARS – They are the most widely

recognized astronomical objects, and
represent the most fundamental
building blocks of galaxies.

4.
ASTEROID – Small airless rocky world
revolving around the sun.

5.
COMETS – It is an icy body that
releases gas or dust.

Very good!
3. Motivation
Class do you want to hear a Yes Teacher!
song?

Before we go on to our new (The students will watch the song

lesson, let us watch and listen to about the planets and afterwards they
a song. After that, I will allow you will follow the song.)
to follow the song.

https://youtu.be/mWYf985bXH0

Did you like the song? Yes Teacher!

If you were given a chance to go

to outer space, where will it be? (The answer of the students may
Why? vary.)

Thank you for your answers.

What do you think is our lesson

for today?

Yes Joshua? I think our topic for today is all about

the planets in the Solar System.
Very good!

B. Explore
1. Pre Activity
Our topic for today is all about the
planets in solar system. Now, I
want you to watch a video clip,
and while you are watching I want
you to jot down the important
details about the planets in Solar
System.

Am I being clear?
Yes, Teacher!
But before I play the video, what
are our rules when watching a
video clip?

Yes Emmanuel? Sit properly.

Listen and watch carefully the video.
Take note of the following important
words.
Very good.
I will play the video now.

https://youtu.be/4f2HeZUrRig

What planet do you like most?

Yes Ken. Earth Teacher.

Thank you. What about you
Prince? Neptune Teacher.

Who can enumerate the planets

in the solar system according to
their distance?

Yes Stephanie. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter,

Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune
Teacher.
Excellent!

Can you please repeat the

answer of Stephanie, John Paul?
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter,
Very good! Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

2. Presentation

Now, we will identify and describe each

planet in the solar system.

First, let us have the Mercury.

What can you say about this planet?

Miguel? Teacher, Mercury is the smallest

planet in our solar system

That is correct! Also, it is only slightly

larger than Earth’s Moon. Mercury is the
fastest planet, zipping around the Sun
every 88 Earth days.

How about this one? What planet is this,

Len Rose?
Teacher, this is Venus.
Can you describe Venus, John Nerson?
Venus is the hottest planet in our solar
system, Teacher.
That is correct! Venus is the hottest
planet in our solar system because a
thick atmosphere traps heat in a
runaway greenhouse effect.

Moving on, let us have the third planet

which is the Earth.

Ken, why do you like most the planet

Earth? Because it is our home, Teacher.

Thank you Ken. Yes, it is our home and

it is the only place we know of so far that
is inhabited by living things. It is also the
only planet in our solar system with
liquid water on the surface.

This one is Mars.

What can you say about Mars, Rowena?

Teacher, Mars is a dusty, cold, desert
Very well said, Rowena. world with a very thin atmosphere.
In addition, there is strong evidence that
Mars was billions of years ago, wetter
and warmer, with a thicker atmosphere.

How about this planet? What can you

say about this one?
Yes Ervin Jake?
Teacher that is Jupiter and it is more
than twice as massive as the other
planets of our solar system combined.
Very well said. The giant planet’s Great
Spot is a centuries-old storm bigger than
Earth.

This is Saturn.

Saturn is adorned with a dazzling,

complex system of icy ring, and it is
unique in our solar system. The other
giant planets have rings, but none are
as spectacular as Saturn’s.

Then, we have Uranus.

Who can describe Uranus?
Lovely May?
Teacher, Uranus is the seventh planet
from the Sun which rotates at a nearly
90-degree angle from the plane of its
orbit.

Very good!

This is the last one, Neptune.

Neptune is the eighth and most distant

major planet orbiting in our Sun. It is
dark, cold and whipped by supersonic
winds. And it is the first planet located
through mathematical calculation.

Those are the eighth planets in the solar

system.

Do you have any questions or

clarification about the topic? None Teacher.

If there is none, let us proceed to the

application.

3. Activity Proper
Class, who among you are familiar with
Kahoot? Please raise your hand.
(The students will raise their hands.)
Thank you. Most of you are familiar with
Kahoot, so we will utilize it. I will give
you the Game PIN to enter the game.

Is that clear? Yes Teacher.

I posted the Game PIN in our chat box.

Shall we begin?

Congratulations to the winners!

Now, we will discuss each item.

1. Mars is the _______ planet from the

Sun.
2. ______ is the only planet known to
have living things on it.
3. What planet is the famous for its big
red spot?
4. _______ is located at the center of
our solar system.
5. _______ is the fifth and largest planet
in the solar system.
6. Earth has one moon.
7. Which planets have rings?

Answer key:
1. Forth nearest
2. Earth
3. Jupiter
4. Sun
5. Jupiter
6. True
7. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

C. Elaborate
Generalization

What is the solar system?

Yes Nicole! A solar system is a group of planets
and other bodies that revolve around
a star. The Earth is in a solar system
with seven other planets and some
other orbiting objects.

Very Good!

Now what are the different planets in our

solar system?

Sir , mercury ,venus, earth, and mars

Good! But theirs more. sir.
Yes kelvin
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and
the dwarf planet pluto sir.
Great kelvin, let’s give them a round of
applause.

Why the Solar System is important?

Ok Lara
The Solar System provides the only
known example of a habitable planet,
the only star we can observe close-up,
and the only worlds we can visit with
space probes. Solar System research
is essential for understanding the
origin and evolution of planets, along
with the conditions necessary for life.

Very good, let’s give ourselves a clap.
