The following will be considered in awarding the grades:

(i) Correct use of structure and language ( 7 marks)

- Sentences must be complete


- Sentences must be clear and meaningful
- There must be effective and appropriate
transition between sentences and between paragraphs
- Subjects and verbs must agree
- Pronouns must agree with their antecedents
- There must be consistency in the use of tense

7 marks : Superiority in addressing the criteria

Dear Ms. Perle,

The French Club of St. Xavier’s Secondary, which comprises twenty- five students, is
planning an excursion to the French island of Martinique over the period August 15
to 20, 2024.

As President of the club, I would be grateful if you would provide me with the
following information, as this will facilitate effective planning. Firstly, what flights
are available by the airline AIR PLUS for the period stated? Secondly, what will be
the cost of the flight per student? Are there any group discounts being offered? If
so, please state. Thirdly, I would appreciate information on reasonable
accommodation in Martinique.

I look forward to your response and would be grateful for one by 1 July, 2024. This
will help ensure effective planning of this excursion.
