Greetings
Good morning class!
“Good morning, Ma’am Moreno! “
Checking of attendance
Miss secretary? How many absent and
present do we have for today? We have complete attendance Ma’am.

Classroom Agreement
Before we start having our activities and discussion
for today, let me first remind you our classroom
agreement:

 Listen Attentively
 Participate
 Follow directions
 Show respect
 No gadgets allowed
 1,2,3 eyes on me
 Enjoy your learning
Can I expect that from you class?
“Yes ma’am!”
Review/Drill
To know if you really understood our topic last
meeting, we will have an activity. This activity is
what we called, “ Classify Me”. All you have to do
is to paste the pictures which belong to the
different layers of the atmosphere. So, you will be
grouped into 3 and I will give you an envelope
which has the pictures inside of it. And you will be
given 2 minutes to do the task. 1 correct answer
corresponds to 1 point.

Did you get me class? “Yes, Ma’am! “

Okay, your time starts now! (After 1 minute)

Ozone Layer

B. Motivation
This time we will have another activity, we are
going to play 4 pics 1 word. I will be flashing 4
pictures and below these pictures are scrambled
letters which you will arrange in order to form 1
word that represents the pictures. You will be
given a slate board to write your answer. The
first group to raise the correct answer earns 2
points. The group with the most number of points
wins the game.

Am I clear? Are you ready? “Yes, ma’am!”

Ready start now!

1. Heat 2. Gases 3. Atmosphere

Objectives
Did you enjoy the activity class?
“Yes ma’am!”

Okay! The words that you had identified are related

to our topic this morning, the “Greenhouse Effect “.

So at the end of this lesson, students are expected

to:
1. Explain the concept of greenhouse to the
increasing temperature of Earth’s atmosphere;

2. describe the effect of human activities that affect

the increasing temperature of Earth’s atmosphere;

3. appreciate the importance of greenhouse effect in

relation to Earth’s Atmosphere.

C. Activity
(Attached here are the activity sheets)
This time, we will have another activity, same
groupings. So, you will be given materials and sheet
of paper that has instructions on what you are going
to do. You will be given 5 minutes to do your task
and another 3 minutes for your presentation. You
will choose two representatives in each group who
will present you output.Attached here is the rubric
on how I am going to grade your presentation.
(please refer to appendix A for the rubric)

Did you get me class?

“Yes ma’am!”

Instruction: Draw or illustrate your interpretation about the following statement.

Subject Drawing

OZONE DEPLETION

Planet Earth has its own natural sunscreen

that shields us from the sun's damaging
ultraviolet radiation. It's called the ozone layer:
a fragile band of gases beginning 15
kilometers above our planet, and reaching up
to the 40-kilometre level. Human activities
have caused a substantial thinning of this
protective covering — not only over the North
and South Poles, but right over our heads.

GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming is the prediction that climate

will warm as a result of the addition to the
atmosphere of humanly produced greenhouse
gases such as burning of fossil fuels; it
increased levels of carbon dioxide thus
trapping more heat.
OZONE DEPLETION +

GLOBAL WARMING

Guide Questions:

1. How important is our ozone layer?

2. What causes ozone depletion and global warming?
3. What will happen to us and to our environment if these two global phenomenon will
occur?

D. Analysis
(After 5 minutes) Okay times Up!
This time let us hear the presentation of each group. So
let’s start with Green Team.
(After presentation)
“In the picture it tells us the greenhouse

effect, how the sun’s energy reaches the
Earth’s atmosphere.”
What is greenhouse effect?
“Greenhouse effect is a natural process
and it warms the Earth.”
Here are the steps on how greenhouse works:

What are the greenhouse gases that affect the

increasing temperature of atmosphere? “ Carbon dioxide, Methane, Ozone,
Nitrous Oxide, and water vapor”
Is greenhouseeffect are a good thing good or bad
thing? “Good Ma’am, because without the
greenhouse gases, Earth would be very
cold, too cold for living things, such as
plants and animals and especially to us
humans and without these, we might die.“

Okay! Now, let’s hear from Blue Team, let’s give

them a hand. (After Presentation)

What does the graph want to tell us about?

“It tells us about the increasing of
emission of carbon dioxide because of
the human activities every after 5 years. “

What human activities contribute more to the “ Industrial Processes”

emission of carbon dioxide that affects the
atmosphere?

How human activities affect to the increasing “Human activities bring gases such as carbon
temperature in the atmosphere? dioxide in burning of fossil fuels which causes
the temperature of earth’s atmosphere
increases.”
Discuss the effect of carbon dioxide emission to “By displacing the oxygen in the atmosphere,
our health? breathing becomes more difficult as carbon
dioxide levels rise.”

Okay! At this time let us hear the Yellow Team!

(After Presentation)

What is the difference of ozone depletion and

global warming? “ Ozone depletion is the thinning of layer
while global warming is a gradual increase in
the overall temperature of the earth's
atmosphere generally attributed to the
greenhouse effect caused by increased levels
of greenhouse gases”
How important is our ozone layer? “It serves as an envelope of blanket
surrounding the atmosphere of the earth.
Without this ozone layer, all of the living
things on earth might die because of too
much heat.”
What causes of ozone depletion and global
warming? “ Too much gases in the atmosphere caused
by the human activities “

What will happen to us and to our environment if

these two global phenomenons will occur? “It will cause big flood which make our earth
covered with water and of the living things on
earth might die. “

E. Abstraction
“Greenhouse effect is a warming of Earth’s
What is greenhouse effect? surface and the air above it. It is caused by
gases in the air that trap energy from the
Sun.”

What are the greenhouse gases in the “ Carbon dioxide, Methane, Ozone,
atmosphere? Nitrous Oxide, and water vapor”

Valuing

What do you think might happen to our planet if

we continue to release Carbon dioxide and other “We will experience extreme heat and we

Now that we’ve learn the effects of human activities  Don’t throw garbage anywhere
towards our planet. As students, how can you help  Don’t burn plastics
protect our planet? What can you do to help?  Plant more trees

F. Application

This time, we will have another activity, so same groupings, for:

Green Team – Make a jingle showing the importance of greenhouse effect.
Blue Team – Make a role play that shows how to conserve and protect ozone layer.
Yellow Team – Discuss the bad effect of human activities to the atmosphere
throughbroadcasting.

I will give you 5 minutes to practice and 3 minutes for your presentation. (Please refer to
appendix C for the rubric).

G. Evaluation

Instruction: Encircle the letter of the correct answer.

1. What is called for the phenomenon when the radiation absorbed by the atmosphere
is re-radiated towards the surface of the Earth?
a) Smog
b) Newton affect
c) Darwin effect
d) Greenhouse effect

2. Water vapor and carbon dioxide are both greenhouse gases. Why are we so worried
about increasing carbon dioxide and NOT water vapor?
a) This is usually an indication that an El Niño event is under way.
b) Land heats up faster than water during the day and it also cools faster at night.
c) Global warming is primarily a problem of too much carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere.
d) Water vapor collects in the atmosphere but falls as rain when they are heavy
enough.

3. What is the reason to support the statement “Cutting of trees in large areas
contributes to global warming?”

a) Plants use carbon dioxide to make food. When trees are cut, Carbon Dioxide in the
atmosphere will not be used up.
b) Plants use oxygen to make food. When trees are cut, oxygen in the atmosphere will
not be use up.
c) Plants use water vapor to make food. When trees are cut, water vapor in the
atmosphere will not be use up.
d) Plants use nitrogen to make food. When trees are cut, nitrogen in the atmosphere
will not be use up.
