LL.M. Entrance Examination Guidelines for Candidates

Important Instructions

1. The admission for LL.M. programme Shall be conducted on the basis of entrance
examination and personality test.
2. The candidate is strictly required to register for the respective programme through the
admission portal at www.csjmu.ac.in .
3. If the candidate is unable to register for the programme at the admission portal within
the stipulated period of time, then under no circumstances, the candidate shall be
allowed to appear in the entrance examination.
4. The candidates with results awaited are also eligible to apply. However, the candidate
must ensure to submit copy of final marksheet one week before the commencement of
class. Failure to submit the marksheet shall result in cancellation of admission and if
the admission fee is already submitted then the fee shall be returned after deductions as
per University Rules.
5. All fees deposited at the time of registration will not be refunded under any
circumstances.
6. The candidate shall be notified the date of entrance examination through the official
website www.csjmu.ac.in.
7. In case, the candidate is unable to appear at the due date for examination or personality
test, the eligibility of the candidate shall be cancelled.
8. The qualifying candidate must ensure to appear at the date notified of the personality
test. No personality test beyond the due date shall be conducted.
9. Candidates must ensure to remain updated of the important dates of the admission
process. The University/ Department shall bear no responsibility in case the student is
negligent in appearing on due dates.
10. The merit list of the qualified candidates for admission to the LL.M. Programme shall
be published on the official University Website as well as on the notice board of the
department within 15 days from the date of Personality Test conducted.
Entrance Examination

1. The entrance examination shall be conducted by way of descriptive/subjective paper of


70 marks for the duration of 2 hours.
2. The syllabus of the paper shall consist of Current Legal Knowledge, Constitution of
India, Contract Act, Administrative Law, Environmental Law, Family Law, Company
Law, Law of Tort, Public International Law, Law of Crimes, Jurisprudence.
3. There shall be 14 questions of 5 marks each with the word limit of 150-200 words.
Marks shall be deducted on exceeding the word limit.
4. The model answers shall be displayed on the notice board after the entrance
examination is conducted.
5. Candidate must strictly ensure to write their entrance examination in either Hindi or
English. Usage of both the languages while writing answers, if found, then marks shall
be deducted accordingly.

Personality Test

1. The candidates declared qualified in the entrance examination are eligible to appear in
the Personality Test.
2. The Personality Test shall be of 30 marks out of which maximum 10 marks is allocated
for Academic Performance.
3. Academic Performance is an indicator of the academic orientation of the student. It
includes activities related to academic as well as extracurricular activities.
4. The Academic Performance shall include the following:
i. Participation in International/ National/ State level Moot Court Competition
ii. Paper Presentation in International/ National Conferences/ Seminars/
Workshops/ Webinars.
iii. Holder of NCC ‘C’ Certificate
iv. Awarded International/ National/ State level fellowship/ awards.
v. Awarded medals/certificates in Sports activities.
vi. Awarded Gold Medal in Under-Graduate Programme
5. Each criterion under the Academic Performance shall carry 2 marks each. Candidate
must submit the document/ certificate of above criterion on the date notified for the
personality test. Non-submission of certificates of the criterion claimed would be
subject to no marks for that criterion.
6. The remaining 20 marks shall be for the interview.

Admission

1. The candidate shall be declared qualified for admission on the basis of cumulative score
of entrance examination and personality test i.e. 70+30=100.
2. After declaration of the merit list a copy of the list will be displayed on the University
website as well as Departmental Notice Board. The candidate himself/herself will find
his/her merit number from the merit list. The merit list will not be published in the
newspaper.
3. The qualified candidates need to be present on the notified date for counselling and
admission process.
4. If the candidate fails to appear on the stipulated date for admission, it would be deemed
that he/she has vacated the seat and the next candidate in the order of merit shall be
given the opportunity for admission.
5. A candidate cannot pursue two Postgraduate degree courses simultaneously.
6. If two or more candidates have secured equivalent marks/rank in the merit Index of
entrance test, then the merit for admission will be determined as follows:
➢ If the marks secured in the entrance examination are same in such cases first
preference will be given to the candidate who secures higher percentage of marks
graduation or equivalent examination.
➢ If the marks secured in the entrance examination and graduation are same in such
cases first preference will be given to the candidate who secures higher percentage
of marks at class 10+2 or equivalent examination.
➢ If the marks secured in the class 12 or equivalent examination are also same in such
cases first preference will be given to the candidate who secures higher percentage
of marks at High School or equivalent examination.
➢ If the marks obtained at the High School or equivalent examination are also same,
then in that case the older candidate will be given preference.

Reservation

1. The reservation shall be given as permissible under the Uttar Pradesh Government /
University Rules.
2. The benefit of reservation will be permissible only to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled
Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates originally belonging to Uttar Pradesh.
Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates of other
states will be treated as general category.
3. Applicants of OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) category would require the following
certificates at the time of counselling, viz, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate issued
within three years of July 1 of current admission year (2024). The OBC (Non-Creamy
layer) certificate issued prior to three years of current admission year will not be
considered.
4. Candidates must submit a self-attested copy of their valid Caste/EWS certificate at the
time of counselling. Failure to do so shall result in disqualification.
5. Caste & Income certificates shall be verified from relevant Government websites.
6. The foreign candidates which are the citizen of countries other than India are exempted
from appearing in Entrance Examination.
