MBA 752: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
Credit Hours: 2 Pre-requisite: none
Course Description
This course covers a wide scope of issues relating to conducting business indifferent
international arenas. The course includes topics such as business environments, global public
relations strategies, organizational behavior, international human resources, ethics, social
responsibility, law, and information technology. The nature and economic role of Multinational
Corporation, including the impact of legal, political, educational and cultural variables, are
examined for their influence upon business performance and managerial activity. International
business provides students with skills to identify international opportunities/threats and analyses
their impacts, as well as with knowledge on how to formulate appropriate strategies and
implement applicable action plans to achieve company goals. The course will help students
understand today􀲬s competitive global environments, marketing, finance, and policy. The
course examines legal, logistical, organizational and cultural issues.
Discussion of current events/affairs and how they impact on international businesses is a major
part of the course, for instance issues relating to international trade, foreign investment,
international political conflict, financial crises, etc. An understanding of international business is
essential for students in today's interdependent global world. This course will provide students
with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to understand the global economic, political, cultural and
social environment within which firms operate. It will examine the strategies and structures of
international business and assess the special roles of an international business's various functions.
It will also prepare students to formulate and execute strategies, plans, and tactics to succeed in
international business ventures.

Course Objectives
Upon the completion of this course, the students are expected to have a good understanding of
international business environments and practices. The specific objectives of the course are:
 Analyzing the role and impact of international businesses on national economic
development
 Explaining how the economic, political/legal and financial environments affect
international business operations
 Discussing how cultural and behavioral differences influence countries􀲬 business
practices and how these differences can be addressed using appropriate strategies
 Discussing international trade theory and how government and business decisions
influence international trade
 Assessing the effects of current regional trade agreements and economic integration on
developing countries.
 An understanding of the manner in which different forms of economic systems sustain
high levels of productivity and living standards.
 An understanding of how the role of managers varies across different forms of economic
systems.
 A thorough understanding of the factors that determine the business environment of
emerging markets, the relevant changes over time and the implications for corporate
strategies devised for those markets.
 Appreciation of how business-government relations are affected by globalizing world of
nation states.
