1. Introduction to AI

 Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human

intelligence processes by machines, especially computer
systems.

 Specific applications of AI include expert systems ,

natural language processing , speech recognition and
machine vision.

Artificial intelligence is the

ability of a computer or
computer-controlled robot to
perform tasks that are
commonly associated with
the intellectual processes
characteristic of humans,
such as the ability to reason.

 How does AI work ?

As the hype around AI

Has accelerated, vendors
have been scrambling to
promote how their
products and services use
it. Often, what they refer
to as AI is simply a
component of the
technology, such as machine learning. AI requires a
foundation of specialized hardware and software for
writing and training machine learning algorithms. No
single programming language is synonymous with AI,
but Python, R, Java, C++ and Julia have features popular
with AI developers.

In general, AI systems work by ingesting large amounts

of labeled training data, analyzing the data for
correlations and patterns, and using these patterns to
make predictions about future states. In this way, a
chatbot that is fed examples of exchanges with people,
or an image recognition tool can learn to identify and
describe objects in images by reviewing millions of
examples. New, rapidly improving generative AI
techniques can create realistic text, images, music and
other media.

02. The beginning of AI

Although the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) has been

around for centuries, it was only in the middle of the 20 th
century that computers and technology developed enough to
make it a reality the birth of AI can be traced back to a
conference held at Dartmouth college in New Hampshire in
1956, where a group of researchers gathered to discuss the
possibility of creating intelligent machines.
At the time, computers were still technically immature and
were mostly used for mathematical calculations and data
processing. However, researchers such as John McCarthy,
Marrin Minsky and Claude Shannon believed that computers
could be programmed to think and learn in ways similar to
human intelligence.

The conference at Dartmouth marked the beginning of a new
era in computers science as researchers began developing
algorithms and programming languages to enable computers
to perform tasks such as language interpretation, decision
making and problem solving. Over the next few decades, AI
research gained popularity and many universities and
research institutes focused on it.
In 1959 Arthur Samuel
developed a program that
could play checkers and it
was one of the first
breakthroughs in AI
research.
Arthur Samuel’s program had the ability to learn from its
mistakes and improve the game over time this demonstrates
the ability of computers to learn and adapt.
AI research continued to advance in the 1970s and 1980s,
with researchers developing expert systems capable of
performing tasks such as medical diagnosis and financial
forecasting. However due to reasons like lack of computing
power and limited access for data this process was quit slow.
In the 21st century, AI research has experienced a resurgence
with advances in Machine learning, Deep learning and
Neural Networks. These technologies have enabled
computers to analyze vast amounts of data and learn from
experience in ways previously unimaginable.

Today, AI is used in a wide range of applications such as self-
driving sars, voice assistants, medical diagnostics and fraud
detaction. As AI cintinues to evolve and improve, it is likely to
play larger role in shaping the future of technology and
society as a whole.

John McCarthy is considered as the father of

Artificial Intelligence. John McCarthy was an
American computer scientist. The term
"artificial intelligence" was coined by him. He
is one of the founder of artificial intelligence,
together with Alan Turing, Marvin Minsky,
Allen Newell, and Herbert A

03. Current applications of AI

 Artificial intelligence has been used in applications

throughout industry and academia. Similar to
electricity or computers, AI serves a general-purpose
technology that has numerous applications.

A.AI in Automotive
AI in automotive is transforming the industry by
enabling manufactures to improve the quality
and efficiency of their products and processes. AI
systems can help detect and prevent defects,
optimize workflows, reduce waste, and assist with design and
innovation.

B. Robotics
Robotics is the interdisciplinary study and
practice of the design, construction, operation,
and use of robots. Within mechanical
engineering, robotics is the design and
construction of the physical structures of robots, while in
computer science. Robotics focuses on robotic automation
algorithms.

C. AI in Finance
AI in Finance can help in five general areas.
I. Personalize services and products
II. Create opportunities
III. Manage risk and fraud
IV. Enable transparency and compliance
V. Automate operations and reduce costs

D.AI in Healthcare
As of today, AI is primarily utilized to increase
speed and accuracy in the healthcare realm.
Some of the current uses of AI in this field
include: Diagnosing Patients: AI algorithms
analyze medical imaging data, such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT
scans, to assist healthcare professionals in accurate and swif
diagnoses.

E. AI in life style
Benefits of using Artificial Intelligence in daily life
here are some ways in which AI is making a
positive impact: Personal Assistant: AI-powered
digital assistants on smartphone like Siri, Google
Assistant, or Bixby can help manage daily tasks, set
reminders, provide information, send texts, and more.

F. AI in Gaming
AI in gaming refers to responsive and adaptive
video game experience. These AI-powered
interactive experiences are usually generated
non-player characters, or NPCs, that act
intelligently or creatively, as if controlled by a human game-
player. AI is the engine that determines an NPC’s behavior in
the game world.

G. AI in Agriculture
AI provides local farmers with access to a wealth
of information and tools, enabling them to make
more informed decisions about their framing
practices. This includes insights into optimal
planting times, soil health management, efficient water
usage, and pest control strategies.

05. The future of AI

Five ways AI is changing our world for the better.

 Man has long feared the rise of the machine – his own
creation becoming smarter and more intelligent than
he. But while artificial intelligence and machine
learning are rapidly changing our world and powering
the fourth industrial revolution, humanity does not
need to be afraid.

01. Creating new jobs

“Artificial intelligence will change the

workforce,” affirms Carolyn Frantz,
Microsoft’s corporate secretary. The bleak
view of AI as a job killer is but one side of
the coin : while 75 million jobs may disappear, as many
as 133 million more engaging, less repetitive new roles
are expected to be created. AI “is an opportunity for
workers to focus on the parts of their jobs that may also
be the most satisfying to them” says Frantz.

02. Bridging language divides

Whether it’s teaching new languages in a

personalized way or translating speech and
text in real-time, AI-powered language tools
from Duo lingo to Skype are bridging social
and cultural divides in our workplaces, classrooms and
everyday lives. Digital translation services are not
“perfect,” admits Microsoft education leader Mark
Sparvel, but “they offer a means of understanding” that
might not otherwise be possible.

03. Transforming government

Less paperwork, quicker responses, a more

efficient bureaucracy – AI has the power to
drastically change public administration,
but are governments ready? This tech
comes with both risks and opportunities that need to
be understood and evaluated. Academic Kevin Desouza
believes gamification and role-playing could be the key
to public servants analyzing complex cases, coming up
with better solutions, and truly understanding the
future of autonomous systems.

04. Delivering health care

AI has the potential to make health care

“much more accessible and more
affordable,” insists Paul bates, director of
NHS services at Babylon health. Babylon, an
app that offers symptom checking and fast access to
physicians if needed, is providing advice to more than
one million residents in central London through an AI-
powered chatbot. Patients can get an accurate, safe,
and convenient answer in seconds-and save health
care providers’ money too.

05. Creating Art

Computational creativity is drastically

changing the nature of art. Software, more
than a tool, is becoming a creative
collaborator, merging computer scientist
with artist. As Austrian artist Sonja Baumel assures,
“the exhibition space becomes a lab; art becomes an
expression of science, and the artist is the researcher.”
