Symptom

When you classify a batch, the values of object characteristics are stored in
the classification database (the 'Redundant Storage' indicator is set for the
class types 022 or 023).
If an object characteristic is added to a class of class type 022/023, no
valuation exists for this characteristic for the existing batches.
In order for this characteristic to be taken into account during batch
determination, the batches for the materials to which this class is assigned
must be reclassified.

Solution

If numerous batches are affected by a characteristic being added to the class,


manual reclassification by calling the batch change transaction does not make
sense.
The report ZVBRECLB contained in this SAP Note has been developed for this
reason, allowing automatic reclassification of batches.
In Release 3.0C to 3.1H, the report can only be used if you have previously
implemented SAP Note 84342.
If you want to specifically select batches for which an object characteristic
has not been correctly updated, you can use the report ZVBGETIB contained in
this SAP Note to select and reclassify inconsistent batches.
You must specify the object characteristic here. The report can only check one
object characteristic at a time.
