MATHEMATICS – GRADE 7-FOURTH

QUARTER
MODULE :
LESSON : APPROPRIATE GRAPHS TO REPRESENT ORGANIZED DATA (pie chart, bar graph,
line graph, histogram, and ogive.)
LEARNING COMPETENCY : Uses appropriate graphs to represent organized data: pie chart, bar
graph, line graph, and histogram

I. OBJECTIVES :
A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and
importance of Statistics, data collection/gathering and the different forms of data representation,
measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and probability.

B. Performance Standards: The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically and
compute accurately measures of central tendency and variability and apply these appropriately in
data analysis and interpretation in different fields.
C. Learning Competencies/ Objectives: Uses appropriate graphs to represent organized data:
pie chart, bar graph, line graph, and histogram
D. Specific Objective
At the end of the lesson the student should be able to:

1. Analyze visual and verbal illustration and identify which appropriate graph to
represent the given data (pie chart, bar graph, line graph, and histogram). (Analyzing)
2. Demonstrate appreciation and understanding of different graphs to represent
organized data (pie chart, bar graph, line graph, and histogram). (Applying)

(*Line graph is used to track changes over short and long periods of time.)
(*Bar graph is used to compare things between different groups or to track changes over
time. However, when trying to measure change over time, bar graphs are best when the
changes are larger.)
(*Pie chart is generally used to show percentage or proportional data and usually the
percentage represented by each category is provided next to the corresponding slice of pie.
(*histogram graph is a quantitative data with ranges of data grouped into bins or intervals.)

ENGAGE
B. Establishing a Purpose for the Lesson :
Opinion marking

What can you say about the picture?

Who can explain the Chinese Saying ” A Picture is worth a thousand words”

C. Presenting Examples/Instances of the Lesson:

Visual-Verbal Illustration are ways of presenting information in a simple and attractive

manner to catch the readers’ interest. These illustrations help explain concept easily
using GRAPHS, maps, tables, info graphs, charts and the like.

(Integration: EN8SS-111a-1.10 Analyze visual-verbal relationships illustrated in tables, graphs, charts and
information maps. ENGLISH 8- 2ND QUARTER)

Nurse Jane is very exhausted because the number of people who get covid 19 from the month of
February to May is on the rise. According to their hospital’s data in the month of February, it
recorded 2064 cases, in March it recorded 6488 cases, in April it recorded 18086 and May it
record the highest number of cases this year which is 37514 cases. Using the data published by
nurse Jane’s Hospital, identify and illustrate what is most appropriate Graph to use to represent
the collected data

EXPLAIN
E. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills#2 :

Since the given data shows a track changes over short and long periods of time and
compare things between different groups or to track changes over time. We can use LINE
GRAPH OR BAR GRAPH.

F. Developing Mastery (Leads To Formative Assessment 3) :
Activity 1. The teacher will group the students and assign leaders in each group that has the ability
to lead and assist struggling learners. This is to exercise leadership and team work among
students.

DIRECTION: Analyze data and identify which appropriate graph to represent the given data (pie
chart, bar graph, line graph, and histogram). (Analyzing)

G. Finding Practical Application of Concepts and Skills in Daily Living :

As a student, you should learn to budget your daily allowance. What are your expenses in
school? How much allowance must you have to meet your school needs? Make your own
budget plan by presenting it in THE MOST APPROPRIATE GRAPH TO ORGANIZE YOUR
DATA using excel presentation.

For those absent students: they will record their selves doing the activity and explain
what and why this type of graph they choose to use to organize their budget plan with
the assistance of their parents and passed it with in the day.

I. Evaluating Learning :
The location of the Philippines is located near the equator so we are experiencing two
seasons; dry and wet season. From April to May we experienced summer and according to the
weather forecast these two months recorded the hottest temperature this year. Using the data
provided by the weather reporter make a graph that properly displays his news about the hottest
month. Use the most appropriate graph to represent the given data.
