MTD 15 FOREWORD ‘This Indian Standard (Second Revision) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalized by the Refractories Sectional Commitiee had been approved by the Metallurgical Enginecring Division Council “This standard was first published in 1963 and later revised in 1972, In view of the experience gained since ther. in the imenufacture and use of insulating bricks, the Committee decided to revise this standard. In this revision, provision has been made for stipulation of requirements in respect of relractoriness under load by the purchaser, in der to citer to the use of insulating bricks as load bearing component in furnace lining. For bricks to be used ia direct ‘contact with the heating elemems or fora specific atmosphere in the furneee, the requirement in respect of iron oxide content bas also been specified sherntal insulation eonsiderably reduces the fuel consumption ina furnace. Bricks used for the purpose of in elation aude of distomite, Freclay, of vermiculite, and other raw materials, and are characterized by ‘heir lew thenral conductivity an low bulk density. ‘This standard contains 7.2 which calls for agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer: For the aurpase of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the Final values observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in secordance with 1 960 “Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised}". The number of significant places retained in the rouniied off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard. t8 2042; 2006 Indian Standard INSULATING BRICKS -~ SPECIFICATION (Second Revi 1 SCOPE ‘This standard covers requirements for insulating bricks 2 REFERENCES ‘The following standards contain provisions, which through reference ir this text constitute provisions ofthis standard.
