Sub :- Report on Myanmarese immierants in respect of s (five) Hill Districts


of Manipur.

Sir,

As per report submitted by the Superintendent of Police(lmmigration), Manipur, l am to


state the following regarding the influx of large number of Myanmarese immigrants to India
following the offensive/unrest in Myanmar. The verification drive which undergoing in the 5
(five) districts of Manipur viz, Tengnoupal, Chandel, Churachandpur, Pherzawl and Kamjong
vide Government of Manipur order No. H-802/3/2023-HO-HD dated 24/03/2023, the following
data/report is compiled as per report received from District Administration and District Police.

2. Further, it is to be stated that in respect of Churachandpur District, out of t he total figure
of 154(one hundred fifty four) only 23 (twenty three) were identified during the verification
drive while the rest were apprehended under Foreigners Act during t he period from M arch,
2021 to February, 2023. Two of the apprehendees expired due to Covid-19.

3. Process is underway for issue of temporary ID ca rds to t he Mvanrnar immigrants with


the approval of State Home Departm ent for accommodating t hem in shelter homes so t hat
they can be furth er deported as and when situation im proves in Mya11111dr.
