JEE Main is the top engineering entrance exam of the country and lakhs of students appear for the
exam every year in hope of getting into top colleges and branches. JEE Main 2024 will be conducted
2 times this year by the National Testing Agency. JEE Main is conducted as a computer-based exam

I NTRODUCTION
JEE Main is one of the top engineering exams conducted for admission in B.Tech/ B.Arch/ B.Planning
courses offered by various National Institute of Technology (NIT), Indian Institute of Information
Technology (IIITs) other Government Funded Technical Institutions (GFTI), Institutions funded by
participating State Governments, and other institutions. JEE Main 2024 will be conducted 2 times a
year, January and April.

JEE Main is also the gateway to admissions in states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal
Pradesh, Punjab, Odisha, Nagaland, Bihar, Delhi, Chandigarh and Jharkhand. In addition, many
states also allot seats in private engineering colleges through JEE Main. Leading universities like
Amrita, SRM, Thapar, Sastra, IPU use JEE Main scores for admissions.

JEE Main is a computer based examination which assesses the candidate’s knowledge regarding
everything they have studied at the school level. The questions for JEE Main are created on the basis

of the syllabus of 10+2 (or equivalent) examination. The required academic qualifications have to be
met by the applicants to be eligible for the exam.
The counselling for JEE Main qualified candidates is conducted by JoSAA. The online counselling
process is held only for those who meet the determined cutoff ranks. Seat allotment will be done

JEE Main 2024 examination will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) whereas the
counselling process will be overseen by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
● JEE Main 2024 will be conducted Biannually as a computer based test. However, the drawing
section of Paper II is conducted as a pen and paper test.
● There will be two papers in JEE Main 2024– Paper I for B.Tech admissions and Paper II for

Steps to fill JEE Main 2024 Application Form

Step 1: Registration: In the first step, candidates will have to register by entering personal details like
name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, gender, qualifying exam roll number, etc. along

with entering the contact details. Candidates will also have to create a password and answer a
security question. After successful registration, Application number will be generated.

Step 2: Filling of Application Form- After registration, candidates will have to login to the candidate
portal using their Application number and password to fill all other required details of the application
form like state code of eligibility, category, preference of exam cities, educational details and parent’s
income details.

The authorities will first release the provisional answer key of JEE Main 2024. After which, candidates

The authorities will release the cutoff of JEE Main 2024 cutoff in online mode. JEE Main 2024 cutoff
will include admission cutoffs and qualifying cutoffs. Admission cutoff is the minimum marks required
by the candidates to get admission in IIITs, NITs, GFITs and other participating institutes of JEE Main

The authorities provide certain reservations to candidates for admission in the participating institutes
on the basis of their categories. Following table can be referred to know the reservation criteria of JEE

A DMISSION TO NITS, GFTIS, IIITS AND OTHER PARTICIPATING
INSTITUTES
The admission of candidates in B.E/B.Tech/B.Planning/B.Arch courses through CSAB in NITs, IIITs
and GFTIs will be based on All India Rank of the candidate provided he/she should have secured at
least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the qualifying
examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would
be 65% in the 12 th class / qualifying examination.

For B.Arch admissions in institutes other than NITs, IIITs and GFTIs; Council of Architecture (COA)
has the following criteria-

Candidates should have passed the qualifying examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry
and Mathematics and also 50% marks in aggregate of the qualifying examination.

For B.Planning, candidates should have passed the qualifying examination with 50% marks in
Mathematics and 50% marks in aggregate of the qualifying examination.

Many states accept JEE Main scores to provide admission in B.Tech courses. Apart from NITs and
