To begin, a ton of this I haven’t messed with thoroughly yet and there are probably

much better methods to alot of what I’m doing. This is simply the way I’ve figured out
how to do this myself.

Required
1. Jak II Release ISO (I’m using NTSC here, doesn’t matter if its black or red label)
2. Jak II Demo SCED_51700 (This is a PAL demo, but it doesn’t matter here)
3. Apache v1.1 “Ultimate PS2 Tool” (File manipulating program, it’s kinda prone to
crashing)

Apache.zip

NOTE: DUE TO PIRACY, I WILL NOT BE PROVIDING ANY ISOS. YOU ARE FREE
TO CREATE AND SHARE THEM YOURSELF

Step One :: Sort The Files

Once you download Apache, unzip it into its folder. Then place the Jak II Release ISO
and Demo ISO into a folder together.

Step Two :: Move The Demo Files

Open up SCED_51700 (The Jak II Demo) in 7zip and place the files circled in the
picture below within the folder you made for the isos.
Step Three :: Open the ISO in Apache

Open Apache, select File, then Open ISO. You’ll want to open the Jak II release iso.

Step Four :: Replacing Files

In Apache- select the first CGO file “ART.CGO”, open ISO Tools on the top and select
“Update Selected File” , navigate to the CGO file you extracted from the Jak II demo.
Select the ART.CGO file and click “Open”. It will only show files that have the same file
type as the one you are replacing in Apache. For example, selecting “Update Selected
File” for COMMON.CGO will only allow you to replace that particular file with one with
the same name. This is noteworthy later on.

Once you replace a file, a window will pop up with “Selected File Replaced.”
This means it works, press OK. If the program crashes, then something did not work.

Step Five :: Editing File Sizes in Apache

Replace All of the files in the CGO folder with their versions from the Jak II demo. After
that, do the same with every file in the TEXT folder. However, this will give you an error:

We’ll have to edit the file size in order to put in our TXT files.

Select the “0COMMON.TXT” file in Apache, then select ISO Tools > “Change TOC for
Selected File”
This is the number that needs to be changed. Open up the Jak II Demo iso in 7zip, then
find the TEXT folder within the Demo in 7zip.

Notice the Size column, this is the number that needs to be put into Apache so that you
can replace the file. Bring back Apache and insert the number. For this example, you’ll
insert 15312 to replace 32733.

Afterward, select the “Update” button. Upon doing this, Apache will always return to the
main menu area, you’ll have to always go back to the TEXT folder upon changing the
file size. (I think this is a bug in the program, not too sure on this one.)

15312 17040 16528 15984 15856 16240 15328 15328

(If you’d rather just copy and paste, here ya go.)

Step Six :: Boot The Game

Boot your Jak II Release into PCSX2 to make sure it boots correctly. Use Fast Boot. If
everything works correctly, you should see the screen zoom out on Jak in the fortress in
this location:

If you see this, it worked! Use the pause menu to mess around for a bit if you want. The
Debug Mode also works here. You’ll definitely need it later on in the tutorial.

Next, we want to load in the DGO files..

Step Seven :: Loading DGO Files

(I like to make a copy of the release ISO at this point, just in case I screw something up)

Exit out of PCSX2 and bring Apache back up. Navigate to the DGO files folder.

Note that there are way more DGO files in the release than there are in the demo. This
means we can only replace the stuff thats from the demo with the release.

Go ahead and replace ATE.DGO, ATO.DGO, CTA.DGO, CWI.DGO, and LWIDEA.DGO

using the same method previously used with the COMMON.TXT files.
4194304, 6291456, 3670016, 2621440, LWIDEA is the same number.

Boot up the ISO with PCSX2 again. You should be brought back to the same screen
you saw before with the camera zooming out from Jak. If it doesn’t do this, you messed
something up earlier.

Step Eight :: Time to Explore!

Activate Debug Mode and bring up the pause ring. First off- change the language from-
Japanese by going to the options menu and selecting the fourth option.

You’ll want to exit out of the menu and re-enter it after you do this.
Hold down L2 and R1 to bring up the hidden pause menu options. You’ll want the
“Select Start” option.

At this point, there’s a few levels you can select. For this tutorial, I’ll go to the
“CITY-YELLOW-GUN-TRAINING” mission.
It’ll plop you into the Gun Course, just walk out and you’ll see Haven City.

And that’s it! A few other missions work as well. Some areas of the city crash and others
just refuse to load. It’s trial and error to see what we can find at this point!

Took some interesting shots here..
