STUDENTS IN ICCT COLLEGES A.Y. 2023-2024; A QUALITATIVE

RESEARCH

TOPIC

Our topic is about how social media and its use affects the students’ mental health. Ever since the
pandemic started, people; mostly students in our generation seem to be dependent on using social
media. We chose this topic because it is relevant and timely. We can relate to it as well. Also, it is an
important issue that affects especially students like us. It's a topic that is not sufficiently understood, and
more research is necessary to understand the full extent of the impact and to find solutions. And above
all, social media has become a huge part of our lives, and it's essential to explore its effects to find ways
to protect ourselves from the negative implications.

That is why conducting this research can not only help students but also the people that surround them to
help and understand them better, relate to them and it can help us better identify the risk factors
associated with social media use and develop strategies to manage them. Without such research, we risk
potentially negative outcomes such as depression, anxiety, and social isolation, which can affect our
personal and professional lives.
