**POINTING DEVICES AND THEIR SHORT DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTION**

1. **Mouse:**
*Description:* Handheld device with buttons and a scrolling wheel, used for precise pointing and
clicking.
*Function:* Moves a cursor on the screen; buttons perform actions like selecting and dragging.

2. **Trackball:**
*Description:* Stationary device with a movable ball on top, offering an alternative to traditional
mouse movement.
*Function:* Rotating the ball controls the cursor's movement.

3. **Touchpad:**
*Description:* Common on laptops, translates finger movements into cursor control.
*Function:* Supports gestures for actions like scrolling, tapping, and zooming.

4. **Pointing Stick (TrackPoint):**


*Description:* Small, eraser-like stick on some laptops, responds to pressure for cursor control.
*Function:* Users can move the cursor by applying pressure in different directions.

#. Mechanical mouse
The mechanical mouse is the most common type of pointing device. It contains a small rubber ball
which is protrudes through a hole in the bottom of the mouse’s case.

#. Foot mouse
Foot mouse is a special types of mouse which can be used by the foot. Those people who aren’t able
to use mouse with their hands, use foot mouse to interact with their computer.
To use foot mouse we need to install it’s supporting software.
