SecurOS WebConnect 7 Quick Start Guide
General Description

2 General Description
SecurOS WebConnect is a web-client for the SecurOS VMS that allows security personnel to monitor
video and to control cameras on a variety of platforms using standard web browsers. Operators can
access live video streams, playback video archives, and display multiple cameras based on user-defined
Views. SecurOS Maps can be used to navigate through cameras including the ability to display all
cameras from a specific map level. Video analytics events and other types of alarms are displayed in the
Alarms View.

SecurOS WebConnect features:

· Connect to multiple SecurOS installations using SecurOS user credentials.
· View up to thirteen Cameras simultaneously ("live" video).

Note. SecurOS WebConnect plays video from cameras that use any codec. This feature is provided by
transcoding on the Video Server side. Transcoding uses capacity of the Video Server when it is necessary. If the
system has a large number of Cameras using the H.265 codec, video from them can be played without
transcoding in the Microsoft Edge browser (see Providing H.265 Support for Microsoft Edge). This can
reduce the workload on the Video Server if it is necessary to free its capacity for other tasks.

· Control of PTZ Cameras.

· Fast forward playback with x2, x4, x8, x16 and x32 speed.
· Archive navigation.
· Long-term archive access.

Note. It is possible to work with Long-term archive only if SecurOS server is Windows-based.

· Export archive to a video file of standard format.

· Group cameras into specific Views.
· SecurOS Maps support.
· Cameras preview on Maps.
· Access video corresponding to an event in the Alarms list with a single click.
· Secure HTTPS connection. It is strongly recommended to use trusted SSL certificates.

Use the left mouse click to change the icon.

Configuring User Rights for the Camera object allows to define the list of cameras and camera control
actions available for the operator.

The following options are available:

· — access denied — an object will not be displayed in the SecurOS WebConnect operator
interface.
· — view — an object will be displayed in operator interface. Only live video can be viewed.
Operator is not able to control an object. For example, the Camera is displayed in the SecurOS
WebConnect operator interface, but user is not able to control its PTZ.
· — control — an object will be displayed in operator interface. Live and archive video can be
viewed. Operator can control an object. For example, the Camera is displayed in the SecurOS
WebConnect operator interface and user can control its PTZ, etc.
· — configure — the same as control access level.
· — full access — the same as control access level.
· — inherited rights — access level for this object is being inherit from its parent object. This
is default access level for new objects.

www.issivs.com
SecurOS WebConnect 11 Quick Start Guide

Configuring User Rights for the Archive converter object that is selected in the WebConnect object settings
controls the ability to export video archive using SecurOS WebConnect.

The following options are available:

· — access denied — archive export is prohibited.
· — view and higher — archive export is available.

Note. Archive export is available for user with control or higher access level to the Camera object.

3.3 Providing H.265 Support for Microsoft Edge

Note. Functionality is available for Windows 10 version 16299.0 or higher.

H.265 video playback is only supported by Microsoft Edge browser with a special extension. This
extension is paid software and is tied to a Microsoft account. Therefore:
· If the same Microsoft account is used for multiple Operator Workstations, this extension can be
purchased only once;
· If different Microsoft accounts are used for multiple Operator Workstations, this extension must be
purchased for each account separately;
· In any case, the extension must be installed on each Operator Workstation.

To install the extension, do the following:

1. Open the Microsoft Store — https://www.microsoft.com/.
2. Sign in with Microsoft account used to log in the Windows operating system at the Operator
Workstation.
3. Use the search bar to find HEVC Video Extensions (published by Microsoft Corporation).
4. Purchase the extension, and then it will be available for download and installation.
