Executive Summary

Recent studies by Faculty oI Social Science, UM shows that the number oI white collared
Malaysian workers is on a steep rise and this group oI people is putting more hours into their
career. In line with this phenomenon, population in general is getting more aIIluent but has less
and less quality time Ior themselves, much less time Ior household chores. Cleanliness and
neatness oI one`s clothing articles and house decorations such as carpet, curtain and couch cover
are vital Ior a person`s presentation. This presents a niche in the market Ior laundry service, to
cater Ior more aIIluent students oI higher education as well as middle class/ white collared
workers who do not have domestic help but simply do not have time to take care oI their laundry
on daily basis.
In addition, there are more and more chic caIe appearing in suburban areas. They use
heavy brocade curtains and Iancy tablecloths that will take on wear and tear damage should these
items not be cleaned with appropriate cleaners and techniques. It is costly Ior these caIe
operators to buy their own heavy duty washing machine and dryer. Hence their reliance to
laundry service give a stable beat to laundry operators.
