What is PRINCE 2?

PRojects IN a Controlled Environment (PRINCE2) is a process-based project management


methodology that aims to enhance the organiza@on, management, and supervision of
project steps from start to finish.
PRINCE2 is one of the the globe's most popular management of projects methodologies. It
was originally developed for UK government IT projects, its utilize has been
broadened to huge ventures of all sorts, and it has been taken up universally in
more nations in both open and private divisions such as police powers, banks, as
well as other large commercial organisations.

AXELOS further updated PRINCE2 with its 2017 edi@on, the new PRINCE2 methodology then
contained: • Seven principles were fundamental to any project which followed the PRINCE2

• Quality It is greatest to establish this theme at the start of a project because it is
cri@cal to remaining the project on @me frame.
• Plans List how the project's goals are expected to be met, with a focus on the product,
@meframe, price, quality, and the advantages.
• Risk This theme detects, assesses, and manages uncertain events that are
documented in a risk log.
• Change Each project is subject to change.
• Progress The project's progress must be located on a con@nuous basis.

Provide the framework for good practice

• Continued business justification Projects must be financially viable, with a


return on investment and jus@fica@on for the use of @me and resources.
• Learn from experience A lesson log must be maintained and up-to-date on a
regular basis so that teams may reflect on what they have learned from previous
projects.
• Define roles and responsibilities The people involved with a project should be
aware of what everyone else is doing, par@cularly the decision-makers.
• Manage by stages Divide challenging projects into achievable stages.
• Manage by exception If a project operates effec@vely.
• Focus on products The product's specifica@ons find the project's framework and
ac@vity, so everyone present should be aware of what to expect ahead of @me.
• Tailor to the environment PRINCE2® can be changed and tailored to the
specific needs of the project.
