EXERCISE-BASED TRAINING
z
z
Considered as planned,
EXERCISE structured and purposeful
physical activity. The goal of
exercise is to increase
physical fitness.
z
TYPES OF EXERCISE

FLEXIBILITY EXERCISE
AEROBIC

MUSCLE STRENGTHENING ACTIVITY

BALANCE EXERCISE
BONE STRENGTHENING ACTIVITY
z

PERIODS OF WARM-UP
EXERCISES
EXERCISE
z Exercise routine EXERCISE
PROPER /WORK
should be done at least OUT/
three times a week, at CIRCULATORY
PERIOD
least thirty minutes to
hour a day. COOLING
DOWN/
COOL OFF
EXERCISE
z

HOW LONG DOES WARM-UP EXERCISE

SHOULD LAST?
This period lasts for 5-10 minutes
depending on the intensity of the kind of
exercise to be undertaken. It is purposely
done to increase the temperature of the
z body and its stretches and limbers up the
muscles and speeds up the action of the
heart in preparation for a more vigorous
and intense activity.
z
____________THIS COMES AFTER
THE WARM-UP EXERCISE.
z
EXERCISE PROPER/WORK OUT/
CIRCULATORY PERIOD

Usually low intensity activities

that build and increase flexibility,
muscle strength, endurance and
tone up the abdominal, back, legs,
arms and other major muscles.
z
COOLING OFF/ COOL DOWN EXERCISES

This part of training helps in returning

the blood to the heart for re-oxygenation,
thus preventing a pooling of the blood in
the muscles of the arms and legs.
z
EXAMPLES OF EXERCISE OR
WORKOUT PROGRAMS
(FITNESS PROGRAMS)

1. Meditative Exercise
2.Dance Workouts
3.Sports and Recreational Workout
4.Resistance Training
z
1. MEDITATIVE EXERCISE
YOGA

PILATES
z
2. DANCE WORKOUTS

Aerobic Dance
Belly Dancing
Hiphop Aerobics
Pole Dancing
z
3. SPORTS AND RECREATIONAL WORKOUT

Ballgames
Racquet games
Cycling
Running
z
4. RESISTANCE TRAINING
 Exercises that require weight training
and other resistance.
 Physical Activity that causes the
muscles to work against an additional
force or weight.
z
TWO TYPES OF RESISTANCE
TRAINING EXERCISE

1. ISOTONIC EXERCISE

These exercises involve any movement of

your muscle groups(legs, arms, stomach, back,
etc.) against some type of resistance.
Examples;

-Lifting Barbells
z
-Dumbbells
-Exercise using resistance band
z
2. ISOMETRIC EXERCISE

These exercise do not involve movement

of the joint itself, but instead the muscle
group is held in lace against the
resistance.

Examples; plank holds, wall sits, holding

grocery bags, etc.
z
 Both forms of resistance training can
be used to firm and strengthen muscle.
As the muscle strengthens, the amount of
resistance can also increase, encouraging
further muscle building and strength.
Any muscle group can benefit from
resistance training
