aiders provided at site.

7. Sequence of work:
7.1 Preparation for wall & columns concreting:
7.1.1 The Engineer-in-charge will ensure all necessary platforms are made with double handrails to
execute the work.
7.1.2 Required level of concrete shall be marked on the formwork.
7.1.3 Needle vibrator shall be arranged, in working condition with spare needles.
7.1.4 Support to formwork shall be checked properly and shall be ensure tighten and rigid.
7.1.5 Site engineer shall ensure all parameters of works are in place.
7.1.6 The position and arrangement of construction joints shall be as shown in the structural drawings
or as directed by the Engineer-in-charge. The number of these joints should be kept minimum
and shall be kept as straight and shear key must be made as per Drawing.
7.1.7 When the work to be resumed on old concrete surface which has hardened, such surface shall be
roughened, clean and wetted with water thoroughly.
7.1.8 For horizontal joints, the cement mortar slurry shall be poured over existing concrete surface
with a thickness of about 8-10 mm, composed of cement and sand ratio as in the concrete mix,
immediately before placing of the concrete, this will help to avoid the honeycombing at joint
level “in case of normal concrete.”
7.1.9 For horizontal joints, in case of self-compacting concrete no cement mortar slurry is required to
pour prior to pour the concrete in formwork.

7.2 Procedure for wall & columns concreting:

7.2.1 If ambient temperature is more than 40 degree Celsius, concreting work must stop or need to plan
early in the morning or at night shift.
7.2.2 Concrete mix shall be checked in term of required workability by slump cone test and batch sheet
also to conform the required grade.
7.2.3 Concrete temperature should not more than 32 degree Celsius during pouring.
7.2.4 Normal concrete shall be filled in formwork in layers not more than 250 mm and vibrator shall
be applied immediately in the concrete and not more than 5-15 seconds throughout the depth of
concrete layers and shall be compacted properly.
7.2.5 In case of Self-compacting concrete, the concrete shall be filled in layers and compacting with
rubber hammer by tamping over entire surface area of formwork to expel the entrapped air of
concrete in formwork.
7.2.6 Concrete should be placed in position within 2 hours from mixing time at batching plant.
7.2.7 Required level shall be maintained in the final layer of concrete placing by finished it properly.
7.2.8 Interval in concrete placing shall not more than 30 minutes to avoid cold joints in concrete layers.
7.2.9 Shear key shall be provided by inserting of wooden batons in concrete at top finished level
(numbers of shear key shall be provided as practically possible).

7.3 Curing of concrete structures:

After completion and final setting of concrete, curing shall be done for a period at least 7 days for
concrete mix without Fly ash and 10 days for concrete mix with Fly ash.
Curing compound may be applied over concrete surface if water curing is not feasible.
