I. General Overview

Quarterly Theme: Drug Education Sub-theme: Medicines than can
Poison Children
Time: Date: Week 5
II. Session Outline
Session Title: “Medicine is Meant to Heal, not Harm”
Session At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
Objectives: a) understand the key concepts related to medicine safety;
b) learn the different medicines that can poison chidren; and
c) apply the key concepts learned to their real life situations.
Key Concepts:  Medicines are the most common cause of poisoning in young
children.
 Store medicines in their original containers, out of reach and
sight, in a cupboard with a child-resistant lock.
 If you think a child has been poisoned with medicine, call the
Poisons Information Centre on 131 126 immediately.
III. Teaching Strategies
Components Duration Activities and Procedures
Activity: "Life is a dance, and Zumba is the rhythm”
Materials: a Zumba dance
A. Introduction  Let the students dance as they follow the steps in
10 mins
and Warm-Up the video.
 Ask, “What is the importance of exercising or
dancing Zumba to our daily lives?”
Activity: “Medicine saved the life, wrong one risks the
strife!”
Materials: PowerPoint presentation
 Arrange the learners accordingly ensuring that
equal opportunity will be given to the diverse

15 mins learners regardless of their differences.
Exploration
 Explain the rules.
 The teacher will let the students enumerate at
least five (5) drug errors based from their

experiences regarding the topic.

in connection with the lesson discussed.

Materials: Journals, writing tools, coloring materials,
cellphones for digital entries, bond paper.
 Explain the task: Creatively express thoughts on
